If you woke up from a 20 year coma and found your spouse remarried and your 1 year old child an adult now what would your reaction be?

Why would my spouse remarry if I'm only in a coma, and hadn't been declared dead yet? :confusedcatblob:

Will go right back to sleep. Single ol' me getting married and having rugrats gotta be a nightmare bad enough to induce another coma. :blobwoah:

    Lucky that i'm still alive.
You do know how much a full bed ridden, under the life support and everything cost, right??
A year or two is doable but 20years is more than a good chunk of money.

They can literally do that. Even just not having sex with your wife for a couple of years can be a ticket for divorce.

1 year old. Than that would mean I was married around a year. Maybe more. That’s a short marriage. I would move on. I would reconnect with my child. If possible, but I would move on. Go to the gym. Join some clubs. See the world. Start a new career. Maybe even go back to school.
The main thing is that this is not the end, but a new beginning. There’s no point wishing for your life back. Be grateful that you still have a life to live. Move on and make myself happy

This reminds me of a crime show in German tv with exactly that premise. If I remember correctly his wife left him for his dentist.
„Der letzte Bulle“ was a good show can only recommend it.

Go to the gym is a stretch.
You wont even get to stand up tbh. More like physical theraphy for a few months so that you can sit by yourself, not standing.

Actually that’s what I meant, but I wouldn’t stop there. I would focus my mind on it. So I don’t dwell on my past

Binge all the missed Anime, Mangas, and Novels I missed in coma. There would so much that would keep me occupied for many years. Why do I no have a sudden urge to go into a coma now?.

depends on your local laws, but generally coma for that long is more than enough for them to legally divorce you since you probably would be declared brain-dead/unlikely to wake up

assuming I had the kid in my 20s/early 30s, I would be under 55, and my parents around 80, so I'd try to reconnect with the kid, get the kid to meet my parents (kid's grandparents) once or twice.

I won't blame my wife for divorcing me since 20 years is a long time, compared to our marriage which is probably only 2~3 years.

If my hospital bills were fully paid, and my family/kid doesn't have any money issues. I'll just return to my old life (except now single), and I would try to repay (at least partially) whoever paid the most for my hospital bills.

If I have money left over/still have decent libido, I might marry again: a woman around 30~40, and hopefully get another kid.

of course, I'll catch up on every manga/novel/major game I missed

It probably is possible. 20 years gone especially is a long time.
Agree with Cutter. No going back. Probably will take a long while to adjust - besides spouse left and kid grow up but also the times have probably changed and so have tech and society. But before even thinking about tackling those stuff, probably would have to adjust and recover from any brain damage bc of the coma and going thru therapy to slowly get body recover functioning again or at least somewhat decent levels to be able do some things by self again.

It happens bro. 20 years is enough time to build a bridge and cross over the comatosed body

First, the circumstances of OP put in the original post doesn’t make sense (I doubt you can get divorced with someone in a coma) but I still get the spirit of the post, so hurrah :blobhero:

Step One: Sue my spouse for not pulling the plug and leaving me with an incredible medical debt that I have no possible way of paying in this lifetime after being in a coma for twenty years.

Step Two: After suing my spouse and get all their money, I’ll catch up on all the games and books that I missed in the past 20 years and live happily ever after.

As for the kid, I was in a coma for 20 years and I doubt my spouse told them about me, so it’s whatever lol

Considering that I am not married or even have a girlfriend yet let alone a kid, I don't know!
