Here you don't have fancy things like that. But What we have is more like Food made in one's own house. No pro chefs only your regular tandoori guy, some people who are "Halwai".
Honestly if someone sent me an invitation it would be rude to refuse, afterall some people often calculate the dining cost based on the amount of invitations. I don't feel bad about going to someone's wedding party as long as I have the invitation, even though we haven't been in touch for years
I've gone to a few because I was invited and wanted to respect their mana. Wouldn't want a big wedding myself, but I don't begrudge anyone else their big day.
If i have the time and someone I'm close with wants to go I'll go. Not much harm. Just navigate and avoid the talking circles you don't like. Who knows maybe you get to met a new business associates or acquaintances.
