Looking for novels with unforgiving worlds where you feel despair in every sentence describing them. Those kinds of gritty works with disgusting humans and soul-draining landscapes. Mostly the hellscapes. If forests, they must be dark and scary and gloomy, if towns, they must be dead, dying or decadent collections of messy stone and iron boxes, if deserts... Well, deserts are depressing as are
Kuro no Maou I remember there is lot of death death and death while mc is kinda dumb fully believing the (yandere) half fairy
Seirei Gensouki. I got the novel in rl. But ended up tearing it apart halfway through because of the way the nobles acted in it.
The summary didn't make it seem like a barren sad place. More like an average run-of-the-mill isekai world though I'd laugh but it's true
Maybe Soul of Negary? And i think dark souls game series is more fitting your description. Edit: Apocalypse novels also fit description.
I actually had fallout in mind, but dark souls also do fit. I'm searching for novels though. And soul of negari's plot is between different worlds, isn't it?
I can only think Reverend Insanity, I stop reading it because of how cruel the world that is for the weak or mortals.
you need a hostile landscape or depressive world? if hostile landscape only, well: “stop… friendly fire” is a comedy novel that fit the criteria. Depression… i don’t know any.
Just play Dark Souls. It has more despair than Fallout. I'd know. Don't have any recommendations other than the ones stated above. Youjo Senki is alright.
