    I know that there are other region-specific games, but they tend to fall under the radar.

    You have the Pacific Games, the Pan Arab Games, the Commonwealth Games, the World Skimo Indian Olympics, the Lusofonia Games, the Jeux de la Francophonie or the World Nomad Games, among others.

    Considering that I don't know of the Asian games at all even though I live in asia, region specific games really do not get much news unless it from Europe or America

    depend on country to country, news channel you follow, typical view toward sport on your country, the participation of your on country, the popular sport~
    there also medal stuff, oh well this cat not know much about Winter Olympic cuz there no snow here so not care~

    Besides the ancient Olympics, there were 3 other ancient Greek game: Pythian, Nemean, and Isthmian. Had the coronavirus not become what it was, late-June 2020 would have seen the latest version of the modern Nemean Games: nemeangames.org/nemean-games-revival/brochure/brochure-en.html.
