If I see an acquaintance in public, my first instinct is to duck and hide

 

I'm from a tight knit village so I've been raised to just smile and say hi to everyone I come across.

I'm just very anti-social and I find it awkward to interact with someone I barely know in a setting I'm not used to seeing them in

 

I am not anti social I just prefer being alone if the option is on the table. I can go to a party, but there has to be at least 3-4 ppl that I know at the party.

I hate parties were you only know one person and they go off on their own leaving you in a corner for most of the party after they invited you. <----- selfish AF the least they could do is fking introduce you to a couple of ppl that they know and get a conversation going.

 

Yup, that would suck.
I don't really like parties in general though. I don't see what's so fun about lots of people + really loud music.
Even if you took out the loud music part, I still wouldn't enjoy having to deal with a room filled with people socializing (even worse if they are strangers).

 

The fun part of a party is the activities and if they don't have any then your at a shit party.

If I throw a party there will be a ping pong table or pool table in the back yard <---it converts into air hockey too. I also have a volleyball net. <--- I find that it's easier to make friendly connection using group activities.

Sometimes we even play volleyball in the pool.

 

Short answer: Yes.

Detailed answer: I knew pretty much my entire grade, along with their last names (and sometimes middle names if they had them) and birthdays. I said hello to everyone, and even people that were not in my grade or I had spent time with during my college classes.
I can't help but not say hi, since walking by silently feels more awkward to me and also rude. Or we both do that awkward smile everyone does when not being sure what to do.
I mean this, basically.

I only great friends or people I'm close to. If I meet an acquaintance, I continue like i didn't see them. If I'm in my village, I say Hi when passing by everybody. I don't think I have the kind of acquaintances where I have to stop. Clasmates ignore each other when meeting in the streets and otherwise I don't see who I would greet... Ah, come to think of it, I do greet the parents and grand-parents of my childhood friends and sometimes my brothers' friends and five sets of neighboors. Thankfully these people I have seen enough times to recognize them even if I, as always, forgot their names.

I just ignore, no matter how close we are.

 

Most of my acquaintances are extroverts because I'm a shy guy who won't talk to anyone unfamiliar without a reason, so they are typically the ones who greet me when we meet, I do respond with a 'hello there' and at rare times I get a 'general kenobi'.

Whenever I meet someone that I havent seen in a while I'd either just go on with my day if I just dont like em or I will do some "hey, arent you so and so...yea its so and so we went to so and so together....hope you have a good day man" type shit to show that I have some interest in them so later on they can remember it as a positive experience for themselves.

I've been on too many sides of the "Oh, I know that person...why the fuck are they giving me the awkward smile" shit way too many times. I can understand not wanting to talk to anyone but at least try to do the actual motions of life shit like holding a 3 minute conversation. You never know, you might just rekindle a fire or make a new old friend.
