I remember this chinese novel that one of the arc is the world tree is getting rotten because of certain demon monster, and the MC returned from future by the help of dragon that gave humanity chance because of it's last bastion had fallen must help restore the world tree and became habitable by human. I also remember because of how rotten the world tree was, the human must struggle to get "world tree sap" in order to live in that place.
