Here's a short prelude: In isekai surgeon there was a scene that really cracked me up. It was probably not even supposed to be a joke, but still. So... Mc's assistant (isekai native) was like "I'm tired, I want to take a bath" Mc (Japanese MC) was like: but why? We have cleaning magic ... I guess you can understand now what I mean when I say Japanese isekai mc not acting cliche. Because a cliche Japanese isekai mc would say something like: yes please, we Japanese can't like without baths so we must go and dedicate an entire episode to the bath alone! Basically, what I want is an mc that Does not need rice or Japanese cuisine to survive Doesn't need baths or hot springs or whatever to survive Does not need kimonos or katanas or whatever to survive Bonus points if there are explicit scenes where mc refuses stuff like this, as in the short prelude. I love and respect the Japanese culture but I've read so many novels where it's ham-fisted into the story that I kind of feel annoyed.
Sorry no although I'm not japanese, as asian that ate rice three times a day. I'll die if I couldn't eat rice for a month.
I get it. It's what turned me off of welcome to Japan, elf-San. Cooking with Wild Game is technically not just about Japanese cooking, but rather using that worlds ingredients to recreate stuff he knows about it and experiment with creating more. Japan is not mentioned much. Marchen Der werewolf fits the bill too since the author really just focuses on the disharmony between man and werewolf rather than Japan and the isekai world. Edit: he does perform some Japanese customs, but it's not intrusive. Mob Otome works too... What you're looking for is kinda broad, since a lot of isekai with a european-centric world would fit.
