Discussion How good (bad) is your naming sense?

Bad enough where I have to rely on name generators with shady notification talking about 'hot married singles' in my area.

My bunny's nickname is Bun Bun and my parakeet's name is Snow XDDD

 

Yup Malay and Malaysian

 

When I care, I dig through baby-naming sites and other naming sites. Pronunciation, gender, spelling, etc. --> ex: Regin, Kai, Jun, etc.
When I care less, I slap on some simplistic name. --> ex: Mike, Sam, John.
When I really don't care, I name it after some existing word. Humor. --> ex: goldfish named Crispy, Crunchy.

Three different naming approaches at three different levels of caring.

Although, I do regret giving simplistic names and then the name stuck when I want to change it to something better...

 

I named my dog bear……… it’s crap

 

When I name OCs and virtual things, they often get pretty flamboyant. I like to use obscure words and terms that are somewhat related for names. Species names, names from mythologies, and other stuff like that. I also really like themed names for groups.
I can't really say I'm creative, I just like borrowing terms from other places.

As for pets, I once had a pair of gray birds. One was darker gray than the other and had a worse temper. So I named it Stormy. The other one was Snowy. It's mediocre, I guess.
Childhood me was pretty unoriginal for sure, though. I had a stuffed unicorn that I was pretty attached to at the time. Its name was...Uni. It could be worse I guess.

 

Eyy. Not Malay but am Malaysian. Bagus bagus, ada kawan.

 

I spend at least an hour if I need them for my writing but if it's just pets or people I'm close with I use alternatives

 

I am really bad in my naming sence.
And I also sometimes pronounced it wrongly which is so embracing
I am keep trying on correcting it

and people laugh but I cant correct it

 

I named my parrot 'Sweet' because I found her voice... sweet, not to mention, I was 6-7 at that time.
But my naming sense has improved over the years, eg. I call my father 'Papi' lovingly... ( ꈍᴗꈍ)

Very chubby and furry, and he has a docked tail so his butt looks almost like a…. bear.

 

Your cousin must've gotten into troubles with some loan sharks while petting the cat.

So, the bare butt is the reason you named him bear...

 

a long time ago, when i was on my big sister house her cat was giving birth and she ask for a name for the kitten (the only one that survive)

back then i was into manga so i named the kitten "doki doki"

I put way too much thought into my names. Just look into mine~


Although, sometimes I use a place holder that ends up becoming the name cause I got used to it...
