TheLazyBastard thanks. As I understand it, the main problem is that in most Japanese novels, the mc is stupid and naive. I read the novels Overgeared and Solo Leveling, I liked them, then maybe something like them.

Just saying but this is not a great requirement - Ratings, Reviews and Ranking are useless on nuf + A lot of JP novels have been tl'd before nu was even a thing - making your "popular" criteria not work at all - and even all of the ones tl'd after nu became a thing dont tend to be review heavy. For example, Toaru is one of the popular multiwork series and yet only has 2 reviews on the main series. 2nd to most of the novels listed here For JP novels, you should try out the older ones then, they have their own characteristic be it in plot, world building, or characters that is kinda hard to be found in JP LN nowadays imo
I started reading The Second Coming of Gluttony, but there the main character is so naive with girls that it is disgusting to read. For the most part, it is because of this story that I wrote so that he would not be stupid and naive, so this recommendation DOES NOT FIT AT ALL.
