if you look at villainess tag, it is usually reincanated into the body of villain (female) (often in a hypothetical game inside the novel universe). The character thought that the fate is predetermined, and if nothing is done they will get the same fate. In KR novel though, it is often depicted noble girl who get second chance (through time travel) after gruesome fate befall them.
You can name any villain, it doesn't matter if they're female or male, hell I named a female one. You could say villainess but it's a long word and she's a villain just sounds better. While the noun is male, the usage is unisex. However if you're talking about an SI who's a good person, just in a body of a vilain and trying to do the right thing without getting killed, then that doesn't apply. If they think they have no way out and start justifiyng doing evil deeds to avoid suspicion and getting killed, then that's still a valid villain. Anyway you're overcomplicating it, you can name a villain who isn't just a villain in name but in spirit.
