It's been a long time since I've read a book in decent English. Either the translators don't edit thier translations or if im still impatient, my eyes get burnt by raws.
Instead of voicing complaints that would largely go unheard, take this as an opportunity to learn a new language, i.e., MTL.
Could be because a lot of people started using MTL. They must have took after Webnovel since they also went the route of MTL.
some dont have editors or bother editing mtl. so im sticking with what im currently reading since theyre "decent" ones, for me. there are still some decent translation groups here and some who you know do MTL. so choose wisely where you read.
I am part of the faction that believes mtl is actually comprehendable, as long as you put your brain on sleep mode as you skim 20 words per second join me also, translating is a sad job just like writing* Web novels. the only comments are "MOAR PLEASE"
Hah I've returned from Chinese websites after a long seclusion. Let's see if our dear tl are gonna give us something to look forward to!
I have found another kindred soul! Everyone says MTL is so hard, but once you learn the patterns of the mistakes the MT makes, I find the basics of novels very comprehensible. Yuuuuuuup. I see extremely well written translations of great novels by TL who speak both languages and there’s zero or 1 comments, and then poorly edited MTL of tropey novels will get tons of comments of “SO GOOD!!! TYSM WAITING FOR MORE!!!” Bless the TL who do great work for not quitting Hungry hungry caterpillar?
I don't know, if you're going to put that much time and effort into MTL novels wouldn't it make sense to put that energy into learning the language?
We must be thinking about wastly different amounts of effort then. Ignoring nonsense parts of MTL or making sense of semi readable parts is much easier than learning a language (for me at least).
