So I just started reading some bl/ yaoi novels recently and I couldn't help but notice that my gay ass felt them to be soooo weird like that's not how it works guys and why do so many have such a rapey vibe??
Fetishes, political correctness, people don't know what they are talking/writing about, bad choice in novels, etc... It can be due to lots of reasons XD
Same here, I just can't help but notice the difference with them especially the ones set in modern day
Well, in a kind of sense I could be linked to how porn does depickt how it works. But in another sense, that's not how any of this works?
Lack of understanding from the pov of the writer. They probably cannot see a consentual and traditional romance to be possible between two guys. Also, there is the question of masculinity, and conquering the unconquerable.
Same. When I first started reading those, I thought "Are all gay men so hor*y?" Tbh, it feels like the author is trying to form a quick bonding/relation between the Main Characters by any means and erm... mostly of them are R@pe. This causes the Story to get more bent towards how the ML (mostly) made MC to first like him because of Great body compatibility or S*x, then comes the emotional bonding or Consensual Deeds. Must be one of the many reasons why I prefer "Shounen Ai" instead of "Yaoi"~
Or all the male teachers going after there male students already in a relationship but how to ppl find gay porn exciting, like I'm gay and it's just not arousing at all
When do any Chinese romance novels, regardless of the orientation, not have a rapey vibe? It only gets worse when the genres go to omegaverse and such, so I pretty much stick to Shounen Ai unless the premise is really interesting......
As No-Username pointed out above, a lot of yaoi/bl is written by women. But it's target audience is also mainly women. It's the same in the west, there's a distinction between male/male romance and gay romance that's basically ignored by most outside the genres. A lot of women make good money writing male/male romance for other women to buy. Actually gay men read different novels. This isn't the original article I read years ago about it, but one that came up on a search. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/lif...n-want-gay-male-romance-novels/article565992/ If you want an analogy, it's how "lesbian" porn works. Most of it's made for men to consume, and if you see female directors shooting lesbian porn it's often extremely different. Edit: I deleted the first link, after reading deeper it was mainly the usual political topics
True! Very very evident into the body-type difference between yaoi hentai for women and hentai to the real gay public (the name is something with g or j, I can't remember right now lol), where into the first type, all man are skinny and etc. While into the second one they are usually full of muscles and have a more masculinized (into social patterns) way Correction: not g or j, the name is "bara" LOL
