https://www.novelupdates.com/series/boundless-necromancer/ Reaper scans. Read up to chapter six (posted today) to see why I’m liking what I’ve seen so far. Failed Hunter, after 7 years of training, despite being Awakened, he has no stat increase, did not awaken his innate skill. Then, just when he’s decided to quit, the Tower of Trials kidnapped every Awakened in Korea. (of course it’s Korean ). Leveled playing field, his advantage is 7 years of training and study. Others are more familiar with skills, and how to utilize them the most effectively, but he’s doing good. Intelligent, becoming ruthless, hard working. Good so far.
The title itself is a telling critique on the state of KR novels and, consequently, a compelling argument against picking up this novel. The KRN landscape—necromancers as far as they eye can see...
Guy is SMART. He’s already speculating, and he may leave the tower early, because the real world dungeons are less dangerous, good profit. This may not be a tower climbing story.
Judging by the title being "Boundless Necromancer" and the tower being the best place for his power to grow boundless, he probably will fully climb the tower. Maybe he will use the temporary return to Earth item sometimes, and maybe the story will go on for a lot longer than the tower itself to show how he uses the power, but there's pretty much no doubt that it will at least start as a tower climbing story.
I actually think it’s a pretty good move by the author. Training for 7 years is still not actual combat. He’s getting a taste of the difference between training and being on the front lines. I also like the very real, human reactions to injury and mental exhaustion, one of the extremes experiences in combat. Agreed. And I love tower novels.
He’s cutting himself to train his regeneration. It’s been done, but so far I’m getting a good feeling for this novel. Author is following the standard tropes, but done well.
Somehow, I think that obnoxious git is about to be sacrificed to give our protagonist resistance to magic. He’s getting all the other resistances…Fire, pain, physical damage.
Awesome chapter! Angst and well written (translated). Go read NAU!!!!!!! He balks at absorbing the souls of humans, even though he had to kill them in self defense.
The Tower…what are its motivations? It seems that it is possible to engineer an intrusion into someone else’s test. The motives are obvious. Remove rising superstars before they get powerful. This isn’t a power leveling novel, but one of gritty and Darwinian survival. I can’t recommend this enough.
