i'm going to start a chapter discussion for this because it's looking pretty interesting. It's only at c23 right now but it's looking to shape up pretty well. Getting some real PMG vibes early but I'm not surprised considering the team behind the translation. Here's the NU Link. I don't know if i just want to draw comparisons between this and PMG but it's hard not to, for me. I think Devouring has shown some pretty good world building so far with aiming at the kind of dark setting. I loved the name Moonwaste too, it just caps off the whole mass grave and corrupt cultivators thing. Little dissapointed that he's seemed to get the bracelet very easily in a very typical fashion but I'm not going to complain. Looks like he's going to make some waves in this school though. Thoughts?
He's a bit of an idiot at first but he learns fairly quickly. It seems there's going to be an endless pile of douches lining up for him though.
Well, we can't have good-natured people somehow being the main enemy of the righteous MCs, can we? That would just be... poor form.
well i like the ruthless mc type so i find it pretty good. it have a solid mythology meaning the levels are standar and in display and not something like mga that show new power lvls every time. harem type mc direction ? whats your thoughts.
It's not impossible to write it that way though. You just have to develop a reasonable conflict of interest, instead of 'I don't like the look of this guy i'm too amazing' or something which is often employed. I think the valuation of strength is fairly easy to go with but the MC seems to break all the rules so I don't know it it's worth throwing out the window or not. As far as the harem is concerned, he seems pretty interested to get his hands on what he can, but I don't know if everyone else is just a substitute for Zhenluo. It could go either way, it's a little early to make a judgement. I won't be surprised if he ends up just fixated on his teacher though.
i would like something like his teacher die and he is sad and take revenge against her family but later finds the reincarnation of his teacher. and yeah you have a point after all he follow the path of the devour emperror to devour the heavens.
His ability to have everything go his way and the novel feels rushed ...but it's not bad just really fast and lacks to much depth (currently ).
I agree that the pacing at the beginning is very quick but I actually like it because it glosses over events that are really more about establishing the scene than anything else. It seems to have slowed down now that he's developed a little which is a fairly positive sign. I think the author just wanted to dump the backstory as quickly as possible to get to the real point of the story.
Author be like : Here's your heavens defying object, here's a book with knowledge, here's a weapon... Now go conquer the world!
I like it better than PMG. Less praising and bashing of the MC every chapter. I do feel it's kind of rushed, but now we getting some development. The ranks in this novel are kind of odd ATM. Just becoming a fighter is already a sign of talent and most people stagnate at the warrior level. So basically either this country is weak or there very few people above the warrior rank. The synopsis makes me think that this guy will do a lot of traveling (which ties his fate to a lot of different women).
You guys weren't kidding when you said this was fast. 23 chapters in and he's already an inner disciple and almost at the third "level" in terms of realms. He also got a kiss on the cheek from a big sis. I also applaud his goal on pushing down the Yin lady, very noble goal!
