My English skills are average but I'm interested in joining as an Mtl translator. Reason: I want to polish my skills. But I'm very slow at learning. Also, I don't know Japanese nor Chinese. I will be using machine translations as the main source for translating my works.
To be fair, MTL is more editing than translating, all you really need is a basic understanding of the content. With the advances with MT, many engines nowadays can produce a readable result.
Correct me if I'm wrong, LNMTL, WNMTL, Comradmao all use Google Translate's NMT system as base. As far as general MT is concerned, DeepL is actually regarded to be better than Google Translate, though from our own experience, this is debatable. As a tibit of self promotion, the above are all NMT for general use, we are actually training our own NMT model for use dedicated to the web novel sector. From both automatic BLEU and human evaluation, our results are consistantly better than both DeepL and Google Translate. So far, most of our service are B2B, but we will be pushing out our consumer service soon, if you are intereted, feel free to msg me and I'll add you to our alpha group.
We actually have a basic online CAT program, for education use, and more recently for internal novel translation (we actually translate for ZH). The service that I was talking about is actually more so MTLNovel
