    I'm out of things to read in NU and so I decided to try to conquer my innate dislike for classics. I love 1984 by George Orwell and like dystopian fiction in general. Most of my reads are fantasy and sci-fi. Pls no romance recommendations unless you feel like you stepped on a lego because you didn't mention it and it pains your entire being for not recommending it.

    Brave New World is also dystopian fiction, a lot of people compare it with 1984.
    I think The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch was pretty interesting, it's also dystopian but it's more sci-fi based. It's really ambiguous as it deals with the nature of what is 'reality'.

    Personally, I thought that was one of the more boring ones. :blob_grin: I recommend giving another one, like Great Expectations, a try.

    The Sea Wolf by Jack London

    It deals heavily of the primal nature of humans vs the idealistic nature of humans. It's pretty dark and brutal at times. It gives good food for thought. I think if you like Orwell you will probably like this book, imo.

    Lord of the Flies

    deals with the primal nature of humans, too.

    Idk, I feel like these two are good if you like the actual themes usually explored in actual dystopian novels in the first place.

    The narrative styles of Dickens and many of the classics lend themselves to be read aloud.
    Adventures of Sherlock Holmes:

    Robison Crusoe:
    https://librivox.org/robinson-crusoe-by-daniel-defoe-2/

    H.P. Aircraft's works are great for this time of year.
    Ron E Howard is another of my favorites.

    https://standardebooks.org/ has well formatted free ebooks. Try searching for adventure, sf, horror, and fantasy. Back in the day, horror is closer to our weird fiction. My recommendation s:
    * House on the Borderland
    * King in Yellow
    * Lensman
    If you like mythology, I recommend Bulfinch's mythological.

    I haven't gotten around to reading them myself, but Edgar arise Burroughs and George MacDonald are good.

    If you mainly want to focus on old SF and Fantasy, I highly recommend Jeffries Johnson 's Appendix N:

    Happy hunting.

    I did like Lord of Flies. Especially near the end, the build up was really spectacular considering that ending haha.

    You need to read "Ring World"
    AND every single book of the "Foundation" Series by Isaac Asimov
    Asimov is my favourite author, and "Ring World" is the first ever mega structure written in a sci-fi setting.
    Of course you can never go wrong with "Jules Verne" and "10000 leagues under the sea" or his "From earth to the moon" where he predicted several things about space travel.

    I’d recommend the same ones as @lucjanssens . Especially the Riftwar series by Raymond E. Feist and the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan

    Cause it's actually true. Or are you claiming to know the exact details of his death??

    Hold on, my bad, I'm thinking Dickinson
