Idk what chapter this is since translators split chapters up but in chapter 66 of the fan translation, there is some background to the Maktus family. It explains how Noah has black magic powers and such. Enon might have died because of Noah’s black magic? Idk though Spoiler: History of Maktus family The emperor tells Adele about some book about the Maktus family and the fate the Enon and Noah. The butler later reads a passage of the book. It states “The men of the Maktus family are divided into black and white. If White becomes the head of the state, the family will enjoy a lifetime of peace and harmony. Black was born with black magic to protect the family. Because of this power, he is doomed to be embroiled in slaughter for the rest of his life. But he will revel in the thrill of bloodshed. Black has no greed for power, wealth, or fame. Ultimately uninterested in obtaining authority to become the master of the household. Although he does not hunger for these things, his desire must never be provoked. If the day comes that he desires for something, White must grant Black’s wish. If the wish is ignored or remains unfulfilled White will die. Also, if someone loses their life due to Black's black magic, their mouth and tongue will be black. It would be the same if he killed him indirectly.” Spoiler: aphrodisiac tea At one point, the princess invites Adele to the palace for a tea party and slips aphrodisiac in Adele’s tea. The princess thinks that Noah will hate a woman who will cling to him. Of course, that’s not true so Noah and Adele have some intense snu snu because of the aphrodisiac. Noah later forces the princess to apologize to Adele at a dinner party.
Also, I haven’t got to the part where is mystery is sorted out but Enon’s death doesn’t seem to be purely a drowning accident. Spoiler: What Adele hears about Enon’s death in an alley While shopping, Adele overhears a man who built the ship Enon was on when he drowned. The man claims that there was nothing wrong with the ship but when the ship came back, a small piece (bulbous bow) of the ship was missing. The bulbous bow is a structure attached to the ship that serves to block the resistance from the waves. In addition, the man mentions that Noah didn’t ask for compensation from the man even though it is customary for the victim’s family to demand reparations and the builder would be punished. Adele thinks that it’s weird that only Enon died on the ship while everyone else was fine. She also thinks that Enon would have checked the ship for safety measures before going out to sea. While eavesdropping on the conversation that the shipbuilder is having, Adele wanders into an alley and some men try to touch her and steal her things. One of the men tries it hold Adele hostage and Noah cuts the man’s head off. Adele notes that the man’s lips after being decapitated looks black - just like Enon’s even though Enon drowned.

I came across this novel's tl (thats still ongoing), since the raw is already complete I purchased both books Here are some more details from the story: Spoiler: Emperor proposes to Adele To start with, the emperor changed the law. Since the country is constantly at war, the emperor wanted to monopolize the power. As written, all the knights will now become part of the military force. Emperor explains while calmly drinking tea that since it is a time of frequent wars, it’s better to be quick and efficient. Those who do not agree will be considered as traitors. Apparently, Duke Maktus refused the order, as foreseen by the emperor. It was declared that the duke violated his decree and was then guilty of treason. Honestly this was just something the emperor wanted to happen so that he can accuse Noah of treason and get Adele lmao. Additional lore for the story, if the head of the house commits treason, all members of the family are killed, if lucky they become slaves. During this time Noah was busy somewhere else talking with those who were against the emperor’s order. Imperial knights came to Maktus territory and announced that the Maktus were traitors which surprised Adele. She was taken to the imperial palace where she meets the emperor. The emperor then proposes to Adele and promises her that she will be safe here. She was his first love because Adele was the first person who saw him as someone not as a royal but just as himself and wants her to become the empress. okay sob story by a bland antagonist. So yeah, Adele was cornered. If she refuses, she will be killed because of the treason committed by the head of the house. Spoiler: Princess announces the (forced) marriage to Noah The princess comes to Adele and they have tea time together. Adele is uncomfortable especially since the last time she had tea with the princess, she was given an aphrodisiac in the tea. She informs Adele that Duke Maktus was arrested. For Noah to live, he just has to be a loyal dog to the royal family. And according to the princess, the leash is called marriage. And so, the reason for her visit was to inform Adele of her marriage to Noah. Adele says that Noah does not even love the princess which makes the princess angry. The princess knows very well that he doesn’t care for her but so what? At least now she can have him by her side. (She just sees him as a trophy husband with hot looks lmao) Apparently, the tea Adele drank was drugged (ofc). It was an odorless poison but will only render Adele asleep for a few days. Princess says that no worries, she will be able to wake up soon, after her wedding with Noah that is. The emperor won’t be able to visit either her since he is busy dealing with the rebels that followed Noah. The last thing Adele saw before she fell asleep was the vase and the forget-me-not flowers on the table. Spoiler: Memories from the past Adele, after drinking the poisoned tea, had dreamt of the past long forgotten. She had met a young boy many years ago. Duke Maktus came to a nearby villa for summer vacation. However, their youngest son disappeared. The son that went missing was the young boy she met on the mountain beforehand where they talked a bit. Anyways tldr, a few weeks had passed and there was a monster that attacked Adele. Noah came just in time as he just wanted to return her handkerchief she had given him before, but had difficulties in fighting the monster. If it continued, then Adele and him would be killed. He made a contract with black magic and accepted the power, however Adele’s memory of him will be forgotten in exchange. When Adele woke up, forget-me-nots were blooming all around them. The scenery was very beautiful. The young boy held the forget-me-not in Adele's hand. The boy told her that when he becomes a knight, he promised to marry her. Adele is still confused because she did not know who he was. The boy wanted her not to forget this moment. She doesn’t know why the boy who saved her suddenly he proposed. Adele wanted to repay him for saving her and asked for his name. The boy replied. She couldn’t get his name since there was a sudden ringing in her ear and her vision suddenly blurred. Adele finally remembers who the boy was. It was Noah. She awakens from the poison the princess gave her. Just in time. She awakens on the day of the wedding between the princess and Noah. The moment she woke up, she had to see Noah no matter what. She had to go get her husband back.
She arrives on time . Our mc gets a badass moment albeit a short one. Spoiler: Wedding ceremony The emperor was present in the marriage ceremony between the princess and Noah. Noah's appearance during this scene was very haggard and the dark bags under his eyes were very prominent. Before the marriage ceremony, he had been constantly interrogated. Noah was asked a set of questions as part of the marriage vows. But nah, Noah's was not gonna have any of this bullsht, as soon as he was asked if he loved the bride (the princess), he grabs a sword and aims it towards the emperor. When the emperor's knights were about to seize Noah, gunshots rang out. One of the knight’s sword closest to the Noah was broken. Emperor and Noah turned their head to the source in surprise. Adele was disguised as a bridesmaid and the gun was hidden inside the bouquet she was held. (Adele also comments how security seems to be very sloppy lmao) The princess wants her out because this was HER wedding, but Adele fired a shot without changing her expression telling the princess to be quiet. The bullet was fired in front of the princess' feet as a warning and the princess fainted due to anger. Adele returned the ring to the emperor and refused his proposal as she only wanted to remain as a Maktus. Emperor warned her that if she refused, then she will die. Adele acknowledges this. She shuts him up by saying that she does not love him (go girl!). She approached Noah instead with a bouquet of forget-me-not in her hands. Adele apologizes for not remembering him and their past together. But now she does, she realized how much Noah had struggled seeing her married to the older brother instead of him and how he was burdened with power (the black magic thing) that he never wanted. Noah comforts her saying that it’s alright and kisses her. Noah continues with his worries. Their castle is gone, there are no knights to protect her. He always wanted to make her smile, but he can't seem to do so. Despite this, Noah wished that they would live together for the rest of their lives and Adele responded that she will gladly do so. I just lo’ld since the wedding hall was a mess. The knights were still standing with their swords drawn, emperor looked miserable while the princess was unconscious (reminder that this was the marriage ceremony between noah and the princess) lmfao Although they were already married, this one was more special since they've confirmed each others feelings. Spoiler There was no other women don't worry. His mind is really just filled with Adele tbh, for like, more than a decade . Their confession with each other happened in the spoiler tag 'wedding ceremony' above.

Spoiler: Son They have a son named Xian in the epilogue. He’s 7 and has a lot of magic power. Cute family moment: Xian and Noah fight over getting Adele’s attention. Xian pretends to be sick so that Adele will pay attention to him. Noah then claims that he too is sick lol
Spoiler: Maktus cleared of treason Basically, the Maktus name was cleared after saving the imperial palace from monsters that had suddenly appeared at the wedding. Since the imperial knights from the capital had little experience dealing with monsters they were easily overwhelmed. Noah walked towards the emperor saying that Astria (their kingdom) was in a crisis due to the monsters attacking. Fortunately, his unit was very used to dealing with monsters, however the black knights were currently imprisoned. Emperor was suspicious and asked if Noah learned how to control the monsters, but Noah shrugged and replies that he has no idea what the emperor is talking about. The emperor then asked if he had foreseen this, but Noah just smiled. They had no choice but to release the black knights lol. Emperor finally gave up and ordered Noah and the black knights to defend the castle.

Actually i don't like their parents. Noah was their son too but they pour all of their attention to the eldest son (enon). They never ask him what he really want. It is the same when his parents arranged fl to be his brother fiancee. They knew that he like fl but pretend like they didn't knew and even ask fl to choose fiancee for him. Whatever reason they have, they shouldn't treat them differently. I pity him for having them as his parent eventho he probably didn't care about this
Spoiler: Earthquake After an earthquake hits, Adele gets hurt and sick so Noah takes Adele to a small house in the mountains/village because the roads are blocked due to the earthquake. He cooks a stew for her. Adele thinks it’s delicious and eats a lot. Adele feels dirty so Noah helps Adele take a bath in the outdoor bath tub. Adele reflects on how Noah treats her nicely by buying jewels and how he always seems to desire her. They then finally have consensual sex where they both seem to enjoy it. Adele is actually the one to initiate it first. Anyways, they have some kinky outdoor bath snu snu. Spoiler: Shopping Adele goes shopping for stuff. After she’s saved by Noah from street thugs, she gives him a kiss on the cheek when he asks for a reward because he took care of her when she was drugged. He also pokes her cheeks because he thinks they’re very soft. After the kiss on the cheek, Noah keeps asking for more. He tells Adele that it was really hard for him when he was taking care of Noah. Adele laughs at him because he seems like a kid who keeps asking for more. She tells him he didn’t suffer because she knows he enjoyed it too lol They enter a jewelry store afterwards and Noah buys her the most expensive jewels and Adele is very thankful because she could never get such things when she was with Enon. Spoiler: Dance During a dinner party/ball, Adele and Noah dance together. It’s a waltz that requires a lot of skinship. Adele gets nervous because all of the touching. Noah kisses her multiple times in front of everyone while dancing and everyone is jealous of his passionate romance.

Edited Spoiler: Near the ending (truth of Enon’s death) Stupid emperor forcibly makes Adele stay in the Empress Palace while Noah was out getting sentenced for treason. He confesses and proposes to Adele and that night, Noah visits her room through the window. Noah asks for her hand in marriage again, asking Adele to always be with him. It's a sweet confession and he even admits he's been wanting to do this for 14 years now. He tells her it's okay if she doesn't love him and that he just wants to be with her. Adele's still confused but Noah says he'll tell her everything soon. Adele finally links Enon's death with Noah's feelings. Noah admitted he killed Enon and doesn't regret it and that he'll do it again if he could have her. This makes Adele push him away and says to Noah she only sees him as her brother-in-law. She sees Noah's eyes getting moist but continues to push him away. Some maid knocks on the door and Noah disappears. Continuation is with her memory coming back and the previous spoilers given here. Spoiler: Bonus There's an extra story about Noah a year after his marriage. He gained short-term amnesia in an accident while protecting Adele and wakes up with his 17 year-old memories in a 27 year-old body. Mentally teenage Noah can't believe his first love really became his wife and is turning red every time he looks at her pretty face and got jealous when he found out Adele was married to his older brother first. They also do the deed and Adele was so excited to finally look like the expert in bed. Noah still did good but kept turning red, yet he still managed to ask her if they could do it (twice) again lol. His memory returned the next morning and they do the deed when Adele was riding him. We found out from this story the reason he acted like a jerk during their first fight (when Adele slapped him) was because he was jealous that Adele still referred to Enon as her husband, and he did sooner or later apologize for that. There was also a scene before the amnesia where he picked up Adele from a lady's gathering around 11pm even though the gathering would usually end around 2am, and it was all because he was lonely. If he didn’t come home for the night, he would always surprise her with gifts (flowers, letters, etc.) and wouldn’t stop embracing her once he returned.
