So uh…yeah, Tencent bought, or at least is wanting to buy, 6.86% of Kadokawa. Might mean we get some cool CN games in the West, or some better anime for them. Buuuuut there’s also the issue of it being Tencent. Which is somewhat greedy if my memory doesn’t fail me. Thoughts? All I care about is if we gonna get Reverend Insanity anime. If yes...then eat that kadokawa's bones for all I care. I could totally see a joke in there. Kadokawa ceo - welcome to my company neighbor. Tencent-
Don't get your hopes up. Tencent also holds 5% Blizzard shares and the only thing this brought us is censorship. Don't even mention the shares they hold in all the other western game companies and we didn't get any good CN games out of it. As far as I see they only lend money and meddle in political issues :/
Them owing a part of Kadokawa probably won't make a big difference on how Kadokawa is managed, since there are 90+% that are owed by other people. It's probably just an investment on it for the sake of earning profits because Kadokawa is a profitable company. I doubt Tencent will move a finger to change anything on how Kadokawa is managed.
