I started reading this one before, but I dropped it for some reason. Does anyone know if its Polygamy or not? Kinda sucks that I've got to ask this for every Chinese novel I pick up now these days....
haven't read up to current translations, but it seems to be harem from what I can tell. It feels more like a JP harem rather than a CN harem though : protag is indecisive but manages to get ladies fighting for him.
"Harem" in novels doesn't mean an actual Harem, anymore. At least not most of the time. Most of the time now these days, "harem" in novels is a catchall term used for a story where the MC has multiple love interests vying for their affection. Not all "harem" novels end up as polygamy. In fact its starting to become more common that they don't at all.
On here where idiots think a harem is where multiple women like one man while the man only likes one or none.
Regardless if you think its correct or not, its still a fact that's what its come to mean. Is it stupid and confusing? Probably. But it doesn't change that any story with Multiple potential love interests is going to get labels as "Harem". Hell, some people will label a story "Harem" if the MC so much as talks to another woman. Or sleeps around a lot with no connection.
Well yeah I knew that much already, but isn't polygamy just marriage between multiple people? In this context what's the difference between it and just plain old harem?
In this context, Osamaru seems to be referring to a Harem "Genre," where the only qualification is whether there exists multiple love interests.
Yep, I totally agree. Harem as a genre only mean multiple girls like the MC and with no Polygamy tags, we got MC who can choose the girl he love, rather than MC who is so indecisive and tried to make all the girls who like him happy.
So... Novel that have mc with personality of " I don't really like her, I only like [random name]. But I can't just deny her feelings and throw her out so I'mma keep her around and maybe let her in when me and [random name] are sleeping together" aren't considered harem? I see.... what a deep thought.... Yeah him being indecisive and not denying anyone's feel is a straight up harem.

Takes a long, long time to pick up a love interest well at some point it is revealed who it will be, and the "competition" of the girls for MC is a bit "I told you I didn't like it that way"... at the moment I am around 1260 with 200 chapters to go, the love interest becomes clear before then, between the chapter 800 and 1000, I think? it's a bit confusing to remember the exact moment and it seems SO relevant in the larger scale plot, i think it was at new year's dinner? Idk, either way I hope (I doubt it) this helps (I don't think so)...
