If there is a dog mentioned in a novel, then with 99.9% probability it will be a husky. It feels like different breeds of dogs don't exist. I don't remember some of the old novels, but even amongst what I've read recently damn huskies were everywhere. The record of unusual creatures, stagnant water of apocalypse, even qidian's relatively new comedic xianxia 'invincible uncle-grandmaster' wasn't spared. And all the husky - related jokes are so damn repetitive. It was fun to see once or twice, but when husky jokes haunt you in every novel it's too much. I don't even find them all that cute or beautiful. Like most of puppies, husky looks nice too Spoiler: husky pup But grown-up husky are nothing special compared to most other breeds Spoiler: grown-up husky Pure white huskies look neat though, but they are described as black/white mix type in most novels Spoiler: pure white What's with that husky craziness? I literally haven't seen novels with any other types of dogs as pets in them. It's not like other breeds can't act silly or look inferior. Maybe I was simply unlucky?
Yeah I could say you are just unlucky There's a dog in The World Overflowing with Monsters and that is a shiba inu
It's just the kind of novel you're reading. For instance, in my preferred genre the dog is typically of the Fenrir breed. I think different breeds fit different genres, and that's all there is to it. Limiting it to famous dog breeds (at least in the home country) makes it very easy for readers to picture the animal, and different breeds are known for specific traits, and different traits fit different genres better, so you'll see specific dog types over and over if you read similar novels.
Now that you've pointed it out... there are indeed a lot of huskies. For CN novels, it might have to do with the funny husky pictures? Like, there's even a special nickname for huskies- 二哈! It's like an expression pack or something! Spoiler: like this!
