I get that NU has it's own definition on what a tragedy is, which makes sense since we're dealing with ongoing series that don't follow a traditional single narrative, but I would like a classic type of tragedy. Something like Hamlet, where things go wrong and the ending is unhappy. Perhaps everyone dies, perhaps the main character loses everything and is unsatisfied. As long as there's no redemption arc, and the consequences and loss are permanent, without eventual closure or anything.
does 'axed' count? *includes, but not limited to: - publishers went out of business - author passed away - author lost interest and only releasing 1 chapter every month or two despite the series being highly successful (anime, game, comic) (╯°Д°)╯ ┻━┻
My answer to this in a previous thread But yeah Sukasuka is the good shit. It even has a sequel Sukamoka. Spoiler: Further musings Chrysalis on r/HFY might fit for some people in tragedy, it doesnt fit for me. There is also Date A Live (I know what you are thinking and yes it is a harem series and has a good ending) but the later half of it has some alright tragedy stuff. Not the choice you would go for if you are looking for tragedy specifically but still. There is also Legend of Sun Knight (not really, and honestly ignore this one - it isnt even tagged tragedy on NU but if you read past the surface you might agree with me here) There is also Kamisu Reina and Ballad of Ten Thousand Gu but I havent read either so idk. Honestly though tragedy genre on NU is inaccurate and misleading at best.
I feel like there should be a "tragic ending"" or "bad ending" tag on NU to go with the "tragedy" genre so that people can find what they are actually looking for
