    1. Keep calm, ignore and suck it up.
    2. Confront, maybe get into a fistcuff.

From all the works I read, things go simply like so:
JP: Either 1 and let karma do the work (mostly for small cases like getting banished, framed or kicked out of party, which is quite a big issue IMHO) or go torture porn route, which involves scheming and random powerups.
CN: It is no. 2, with variety of faceslaps later and execution of entire clans.
KR: murder, same as 2 but more focused on just murdering the guy who harmed you.
EN: I don't know if it is Randidly Ghosthound or Jason Asano that skewed the results, but most of the times they let bygones be bygones, while the other guy is still continuously buttfucking them. I hate that.

So what is your take on revenge? How far is too far?

When it comes to two competing parties with bad blood, I would prefer if their first option wasn't to kill them. Sure, if the other party killed someone important to you, and will likely continue to cause harm, they ought to be exterminated. However, most of the time they should probably be left alive, put in jail at most if they've committed any crimes. I think a lot of the issue comes from the fact that there isn't a proper judicial system in a lot of the novels here, so we're left in an odd state of trying to figure out how to take matters into our own hands.

Irl, if someone wrongs me I'll avoid them, and press charges if they've committed any crimes I have evidence for.

It depends on the slight. I am petty, but I am not a dumb ass who will ruin myself trying to ruin a person, but if someone intends to harm me they better not miss because I am damn sure I won't miss.

    I'm not sure...
I never went through a situation that was bad enough to get revenge from them (well, there was the bullying when I was in middle school, but if I had to ask for revenge for that, that would do a lot of persons)
I guess that would depend of the gravity of what was done to me.
But if possible, I would avoid that. Revenge is interesting in books, tv series and movies but in reality, that would ask way too much time and energy, and rather than focusing on that, I would prefer spending my energy on being happy again. Moreover, revenge would imply to focus constantly on the anger, bad memories and negative thoughts, and how one could be happy like that ?
But as I said, that would depend on what was done to me. I guess that at some level, I wouldn't be able to think like that anymore (I sometimes wondered what I would do if someone would do great harm to my family : the answer, I think I might get dangerous and even abandon my future to make the culprit pay or disappear from this world)

depends on the person I guess
but I'll probably start alienating myself from the person who slighted me since there's no point being friends

    1.

It really gets to the other person if you brush it off and don’t let it get to you, and just seem your cheery self.

Depends on the weight of the situation, of course.

Revenge is usually portrayed in stories with really dark and heavy stuff I think (from what I've read at least), like a cheating partner, murder, stealing, crimes, etc.

I'm rather a pushover. And anxious. If anything, I'm passive aggressive and petty.
So I rarely confront people for anything, especially if it's about myself. When it's concerning another person, I'm 60% more likely to speak up and take action against someone and try to solve the situation. I don't have too many memories of ''taking revenge'' though.

I remember when I really really wanted to put nails in the tires of my sister's co-worker's car because he got her in trouble at work and was plotting to have her fired. Besides being morally wrong and a shitty thing for him to do, my sister was basically supporting all of us, her younger siblings, so we obviously weren't doing really 'okie dokie' financially.
But I didn't because she was scared it'd be too obvious. But instead of karma happening, ''luck'' happened and she was then promoted and removed to another wing of the building not a day after.

Maybe not 'revenge' ?? But more of a childish & petty payback sort of thing; in 4th grade, this entitled & obnoxious girl was bullying my friend. The reason she was making fun of him was because he had a stutter and was always in one of those electronic wheelchairs. He was fockin' disabled and she was picking on him for it.
So, because I was too shy to confront her, I basically forged a love letter claiming I was the guy she was currently crushing on, and left it on her seat when we all went out for recess. She found it when we came back in, and when she confronted him about it during class, he was grossed out and turned her down, and everyone laughed at her.

I find that everyone here is a law abiding citizen and am thankful for that. Though we all here make poor wish fulfilment protags with all our pacifist mentality here.

The worst I ever did was to swat someone and hope that they got shot. All they gotten was broken doors though.

Ugh. Why was my first thought you swatting someone against the head with one of those flimsy plastic fly swatters?? Took me a second.

Also, may I ask what they did?

Just the usual, stole my stuff and the teachers sided them, dragged me behind the trash bins (five of them) and beat me senseless and trash my stuff whenever they got the chance (like chucking candy wrappers, used soda cans and even food into my bag). One time they even vandalised my new bike by bending the wheels out of shape, cut off my lock and even stole my seat (found it in the nearby bin). The disciplinary master at the time just shrugged and told me to fuck off.

While in middle school I got into several fist fights with which I was provoked every time because I was not part of a gang or because they thought I was easy target.

I don't know which is worse I hit someone with a bat or that I hit someone with a red brick or the arm bar I did that broke someone's arm.
all I know is that the more vicious I got the less ppl provoked me, but it cost me to fail 2 times because I was in and out of school even tho my grades were good I ended up failing 6 and 7th grade until they put the zip code bylaw which basically pushed all the bad elements out of my school.

At least you managed to curb the bullying, though at a heavy cost of your certificate. I will like to tell people that " ignoring the bully" and "telling the teacher" are both ineffective ideas, the former encourages them further while the latter has the teacher tell you to fuck off as they are just there for payment.

I still graduated and went to uni it just took a bit longer I didn't quit school. I did have to take a test so that I could skip a grade so I technically only failed once.

In the case of fiction, I suppose revenge and the similar concepts of a vendetta and having vengeance gets more of a pass. You know, the default image of using violence. However, rape, sexual assault, kidnap, abduction, etc. as a form of pay back is not the way to do it. That is, unless you want to have that vengeful character be seen as the same or worse than their attackers. Same goes with torture. In real-life, not-so much though it does depend on how it is done. However, in terms of real-life payback, the examples of sex-related crimes and torture that I just mentioned also applies. The next paragraph is a more "humane" way of getting back.

What is a more "ethical" way of payback? Suppose a member of Sports Team A cheats somehow and that gets Person A of Sports Team B injured. Provided that Person B of the latter group does everything by the proverbial book and adheres to the rules, being extra hard on that member of Team A to the point where Team B wins is arguably fair game. When Person B of Team B realizes the Team B won, they might say "This is for [personal name of Member A of Team B]".

I just cut people off and don't bother anymore. Even if it's family or coworkers you can't avoid, limit the time you communicate at all, and mostly ignore they exist. I'm not aggressive. But I do love revenge plots in novels.
