This plot is extremely confusing and convoluted but I am enjoying it because it is unique. I am reading the manhwa. So far I am really enjoying Durua Valrose as a character
I just finished reading until chapter 54 of the webtoon. I must say that I am enjoying the male lead being misunderstood and distrusted by the female lead. I have read too many sad stories where the female lead is feeling sad because of unrequited love or misunderstanding so it is refreshing to read the opposite. I feel a little bit of sympathy for male lead but a lot of his problems could have been solved if he were honest with Duroa. He hides too much. To be honest I can't even blame him, fate is against him. So many magical artefacts and potions are causing trouble. The plot is unique, the characters are dynamic and three dimensional. I'm liking this story a lot.
After reading the latest manhwa chapter, I don't get it. Is MC immune to his mind control because she got fed with the potion by his mother or she is just meant to be immune to his mind control power?
I think someone mentioned earlier that she's the saintess? If so, it would give her built in resistance to many things (the potion, dark magic, brainwashing). It's heavily implied that she has very distorted memories of the ml because of repeated dosing of the memory twisting potion. The ml only casted his brainwashing on my once (and it most likely wasn't effective even then), unlike his mother's repeated drugging of mc.
What happened to Alice her friend? I saw in the manhwa Alice was ignoring her and found out from bullies that Alice has changed and used her name to get what she wants.
The thing is, this is a melodramatic story for an audience loving guilty pressure toxic drama. In melodrama the characters have to to do very irrational stupid immature stuff to cause spectacular conflicts. The MCs and others are not allowed to do smart decisions, behave rationally nor mature and have any common sense. If they do, there won't be a plot to sell for that specific target audience. The problematic ML only exists for the struggling FL who has to fix him at the end by the day and gets rewarded with undying love + extra huge fortune/wealth. He can't live without a FL and the FL in turn can't survive without him... Honestly I am not fan of this logic/trope anymore. And WHY ARE THERE SASSY FLS WHO ARE SO STUPIDLY CLUMSY THAT THEY ALMOST KILL THEMSELVES BY ACCIDENTLY FALLING FROM THE BALCONY OR DRIPPING INTO A LAKE??? As it being strucked by a car or truck because you were so fixated on your phone while walking down the street wasn't reckless enough already.......
I understand your reservations regarding the toxic situation but as you mentioned earlier it truly is a guilty pleasure. Mindless melodrama

I understand all the hate because I too found myself annoyed by the way the plot was progressing. One of the worst things you can have in a these types of stories is a misunderstanding since we usually know what’s happening on both sides and when the whole story is surrounded by a misunderstanding it’s irritating. But I think the story is really good once they get over the misunderstandings so if you can push through beyond what’s covered in season 1 and a good chunk of season 2 I think it’s really worth it! It helps if you can just laugh at the arguments the characters have lol. like I honestly think this is becoming one of my favorites because there’s this like feeling of catharsis when they start to understand eachother. It’s almost rewarding the reader for getting so far
After 1 year i came here in this thread again and watching people liking this series i feel good inside because this series is not everyone's cup of tea
I still think of this series a lot. Manhwa is in the final stretch, and I would love to read the novel in English. Last year there was a song by RYEOWOOK released as OST for the manhwa In spotify appears as OST part 1,so hopefully we get another one!
