Just a thread made by me on spur of boredom.
Kay the objective is to name the legends of your favourite genre.:blobhug:
    I will start as usual.
Since I like reading mystery, psychological the most the legends are
    - Nancy drew
    - hardy boys
    - Sherlock Holmes
    - the three investigators ( not very popular)
    - secret seven
    - famous five

If it's the novel here on NUF then

    Invisible Dragon

tbh it's the novel that's been recommended to me that I still can't forget...

None of Agatha Christie's books? That's surprising.

Good list. Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys (along with Secret Seven and Famous Five) were my childhood. Have a well thumbed copy of Doyle's entire collection. And to think I believed I was the only one who read The Three Investigators...

P.S. If you gave Christie a miss because you don't like the so called Queen of Mystery, you are my friend for life.

I will write a few authors that helped me thorough my childhood. (Not an exhaustive list)

Brian Jaques (Redwall series) In his real life he read his books to blind students.
Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time) My mom was overly religious. These books never had a description on the back, and vague titles.
Pierce Anthony (Incarnations of Immortality, Xanth) Humorous if a bit odd. Kept me laughing
Alexander Pope (Ode to Solitude) literally got me into poetry. One of my loves.
Gary Larson (The Far Side) Comic that also kept me smiling.

Kenneth Bulmer aka Alan Burt Akers and other pseudonyms. Not because his books were the greatest, but they were consistent. Even after a stroke he was still dictating them afterwards for a while. He wrote 170 novels (generally around 180 page adventure/sci-fi but some other stuff), 200 short stories/articles.

That unlocked some repressed memories. I vaguely remember reading tons of those when I was young :hmm:

Actually, I read them too, though I only read those w/ Hitchcock as their intro & epilogue
Got lucky enough to found & bought the complete Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes in soft cover
I'm also not quite fond w/ Christie's works. IMHO her characters (esp Poirot) felt over dramatic for me
Not sure if some of these guys count as legend:
Novelists: Tom Clancy (love his Jack Ryan Sr series) & Clive Cussler
Actors: Sean Connery, Christopher Lambert & Harrison Ford
Musicians: Freddie Mercury, Phil Collins & Celine Dion

Here is one for us Americans: A very honest federal politician is bound to be a legend.
