Depends on the type of music, I guess~ For stuff like heavy metal, I prefer male vocals. For touhou remixes in general, I prefer female vocals. For most other stuff, I think I'm fine with whatever is available for as long as it's well sung~
Well ofc heavy metal is in male vocals. I mean there is Battle Beast but that can almost pass for a male vocal. Unless you summed it all under generic term heavy metal like Ladybeard. I dunno wtf the guy is on about, he does not sing heavy metal. He growls something that's not death nor metalcore nor black...he tryhards but he's funny and I like the girls. Symphony metal is best for females... Nightcore literally doesn't matter
I mainly listen to rock/metal and electronic/instrumental music and I prefer male vocalists. I was fine with both at first, but now except for a couple of some more unique groups I try to avoid female vocalists. Cause they all sounds the same or similar to some particularly popular group. Take for example Delain in ur post, it wouldn't be hard to find another 2-3 bands that sounds 80-90% close to it. At some point in time I couldn't differentiate most groups with female vocalists in my playlist and after listening too much of them I'm now somewhat allergic to such groups. Though male vocalists have similar music too it's still easier to differentiate them. Or maybe im just tone deaf
Depends on the genre, I'm sure there are tons of generic rock/metal bands that all sound the same. Yeah when symphony metal became popular a bunch of bands emerged with non distinctive singers, not everyone can be Tarja or Floor. Delain's is not distinctive much but she's damn good still and the band has a lot of good songs, not just one or two hits. 80-90% is pretty low bar, I'm sure it encompasses more bands than you think. Band distinction within the same genre is like be different than 98%. Anyway I get where you're coming from but I have no problems telling the difference of those bands I actually know names of and not just being in my alt rock mix and so on. It's available to me, Danse Macabre by Delain on their official channel.
