Hello! Just curious what are some things that you guys do that help you sleep? I myself am kind of unhealthy and usually stay up until I feel tired so I’m trying to find other healthier alternatives. Any suggestions?

The podcast “Sleep With Me.” Usually puts me to sleep during the intro.

Default settings: No lights or electronics on except the radio set to classical music and the fan. Also comfy pillows under my arms and knees.
When I can't sleep; getting up out of bed for meditation, reading, underwater nature documentaries, warm bland herbal tea, and/or doodling. Then going back to bed when I'm sleepy.

Try to go to sleep at the same time everyday, even if you aren't tired. It's to boring just to lay down on the bed and trying to sleep? Then just imagine yourself in different scenarios, f.e. as a transmigrator in a cultivation world and try to live in this world. If you lack imagination you can use existing worlds and stories. Just imagine yourself as the MC or a side character and let the storyline progress as you wish.
Basically be an author, while trying to sleep.

I listen to ambience/ASMR videos! I love historical or nature ones, like the ones from the Ambience of Yesteryear channel on YouTube. Some of the most stunning soundscapes I’ve ever heard, and they put me right to sleep. Really add to the atmosphere if you’re the type to imagine stories as you sleep.

No lights, no sounds or even music (personally, music makes me hyper - I feel like singing along the lyrics or tapping my feet etc). No mobile phone near you. Close your eyes, do the deep breath in and deep breath out exercise. Clear your mind as much as possible. The second ur mind thinks about anything else, recognise it and stop thinking. It's going to be a little tough for the brain to shut up but by the time u realise it, u will be asleep.

This method of calming my mind and cleaning any thoughts as helped me through many stressful and scary nights when my brain's on an overdrive.

Try to force yourself to go to sleep at the same time each day. For me I make my own story while trying to sleep

As a frequent insomniac I'll share with you my secret: alcohol; when it gets late (and you haven't eaten) a dose or two of hard liquor will get to you really fast and, in my case, I get sleepy

I read about this sleep eye mask in one of CNN's "review articles" shilling stuff for Amazon and it's actually pretty good. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D3M5TTZ

My bed room is full of power indicator lights from assorted electronics, so it's never really dark. And that's before taking into account the flea trap I keep under my bed that uses a night light for the heat bait which adds a lot of light in my room. In addition, during the Spring and Summer when the sun rises soooo early that it wakes me up before my alarm, this mask has helped a lot.

Hearing ppl talking. I used to sleep while listening to friends chit-chatting. Very comfy. Now, I use tv shows as my background music to sleep.

Sounds intriguing, unfortunately, as a minor bound to the law I'll have to wait to try this method later in life. Thank you for the suggestion though!

Warm tea (no sugar, no caffeine)
    Warm honey and milk
Maybe a warm shower before going to sleep (too tall for bathtub...) :blobneutral:
I do like rain sounds or even ASMR, sometimes quiet instrumental music
Making a small plot, then create the short story in my head, and finish it before I go to sleep so I feel like I completed a task before bed. It helps sometimes, and often than not I fall asleep without finishing the story which works too.
Snuggles. Dog, person, pillow, as long as I have something to hold.

If its thoughts that are keeping you up, if you haven't tried it yet this might work.
Write down everything that's on your mind and all the stuff bothering you/tasks you need to complete tomorrow and toss it in the trash.
It's a good trick that sometimes works for me.
