https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2022/01/18/welcoming-activision-blizzard-to-microsoft-gaming/ Well, yeah, that's pretty much it... I think the deal was around 70 billion USD or something. Anyways, thoughts on that? I don't really care too much, but maybe this is what WoW needed to start growing again. ... Oh, and maybe we can actually get a new Warcraft RTS now. Age of Empires 4 is a thing after all, so Microsoft is willing to invest on RTS nowadays... Oh wow, this would be great. Might be what I'd need to try playing RTSs again. I'm actually hyped now~ (I came to this conclusion as I typed this post)
From what I heard on some gamefaqs discussion, he is staying for now, at least until the merging is properly completed, which the estimated timeframe is until 2023 or something. At that point everyone will be reporting to Phil Spencer. ... Or at least that's what I heard from a random user on gamefaqs that didn't source anything they had said... >.>
That's a bit surprising, especially with the massive number. I won't say anything about all the internal problems about blizzard since others have already said it XD. In terms of games let's see. Blizzard currently has WOW, hearthstone, diablo(?) and Overwatch as active titles at least if I remember correctly. I don't really care for any of them, except maybe a good Diablo sequel in the future. Might be nice if they bring back some of their older series but no too likely. Activision has umm COD, spyro, Crash and a couple other major franchises. Not really a call of duty fan but spyro and crash will always have a soft spot for me. Anyway with both of those companies and it's earlier acquisitions, microsoft and it's xbox and pc games passes are turning into behemoths
This dropped out of nowhere... wtf. *68.7 billion usd https://www.theverge.com/2022/1/18/...zzard-xbox-acquisition-call-of-duty-overwatch And this is likely suppose to be a steal for Microsoft coz of everything that went to shit with Blizzard. The fuck.
Oh, I loved Spyro and Crash as a child, but I haven't played any of their games in the last 18ish years... >.> That fits into "around 70 billion"! xD
a quote from an article on polygon : "The lawsuit’s allegation of a 'frat house' or 'frat boy' culture is directed at Blizzard Entertainment. There, DFEH says, women were subjected to 'cube crawls,' a kind of office party whereby male employees, who had been drinking, prowled the workplace and subjected women to unwanted advances, lewd behavior, and other sexual harassment. “Female employees working for the World of Warcraft team noted that male employees and supervisors would hit on them, make derogatory comments about rape, and otherwise engage in demeaning behavior,” the lawsuit says." In terms of annoying monetization and lowering of quality of games, activision were responsible, but the original blizzard devs were responsible apparently for the work culture issues.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/microsoft-to-buy-activision-blizzard-games-11642512435?mod=e2tw I found this btw. The headline saying "Expected to leave" seems to be a bit exaggerated when they don't seem to have any real sources on that, but... Hey, it's something~
As long as Activision is included as part of the deal, it will never get better. Activision is the poison, get rid of it and it will probably get better. Probably not, but Microsoft loves money and they know Activision's methods sucks.
Halo and Call of Duty. This is a monopoly lol. They also own Minecraft. If they buy League of Legends then they will be a gaming behemoth. Microsoft just needs a strong eSports title
