The raws for the final three chapters of the WN came out yesterday.

 

Bruh I'm really disappointed with this ending. It felt waaay too rushed and left a lot of loose ends.

 

As disappointing and obviously rushed as the ending is, I'm still thankful the author didn't completely abandon the WN and gave some kind of closure.

Still gnashing my teeth over here though. Haha.

 

Damn that ending is really disappointing i hate it when author does stuff like this

　蜘蛛ですが、なにか？　完結いたしました。

　はい、というわけで完結です。
　前の活動報告ではお正月中に完結とか言ってましたが、三週間以上放置してしまいました。
　すいません。
　ちょっと突発性やる気欠乏症候群を発症しまして……。
　長年続けてきたこのシリーズを終わらせることに、心のどこかでストップをかけてしまっていたのかもしれませんね。
　……はいすいません、ちょっとセンチメンタル風な言い訳すれば誤魔化せるかなーって。
　単純に先に書籍のほうが書きあがっていて、気が抜けちゃったからです、はい。
　本当はＷＥＢ版のほうも書籍発売日の前に完結させたかったんですが、その気力が残っていなかった！
　あ、書籍のほうも１６巻すでに発売してまーす（ダイマ）。
　こちらはＷＥＢ版と結末変えました。
　途中までは同じ結末にしようと思ってたんですが、書籍版とＷＥＢ版ではもうたどってきた歴史そのものが変わっちゃってるんで同じ結末にはならんかったとです。

　１話のプロローグをアップしたのが２０１５年の５月２７日。
　そこから６年８カ月。
　長かったですね。

　もともとこの蜘蛛は割と発作的に始めた、半分見切り発車みたいなものでした。
　一応このラストまでの道筋は考えてから書き始めたものの、当初は１年くらいで完結するやろ、と思ってました。
　ええ、実際にはその６倍以上の期間がかかりましたが！
　まあ、書籍化だったりアニメ化だったりでこちらの更新が滞ってしまった期間があるんで、そこらへんを省いて圧縮すれば１年くらいに……ならんよな。
　うん、ならないな。
　本当に当初は１年くらいでばーっと駆け抜けてしまうつもりだったんですがねえ……。
　ただ、期間が長くなったおかげでその分このシリーズに愛着が持てたんじゃないかと思います。

　あと、この蜘蛛は実験作的な意味も強かったです。
　いかんせん書き始めた当時はモンスター転生物はニッチでした。
　その中でもさらにニッチな蜘蛛転生ですからね。
　まあ、読まれへんよな！　と開き直っておりました。
　なので、読まれないことを前提にいろいろ無茶苦茶に詰め込んでやろうと。
　闇鍋ですね。
　結果できあがったのがこちらになります……。

　まあ、完結まで読んでいただいた方々はご存じかと思いますが、この物語は途中でかなり方向転換しております。
　ラーメン食べ始めたと思ったら途中からそばに変わった的な。
　ジャンル詐欺と言われかねないくらい急カーブ描いて変化球が飛んできます。
　具体的に言うと洞窟で楽しく（？）サバイバルしてたと思ったら、世界の命運懸けて戦い始めた、ですね。
　前半の徐々に強くなっていくパートと、後半の世界を敵に回して暴れまわるパートですね。
　ここら辺の急な物語の変遷について来れなくてリタイアした、という感想も多くいただいています。
　前半のほうがおもしろかったー、という感想もですね。

　私としてはそういう感想が出るというのは予想しておりました。
　というか私自身こういう物語の急な方向転換、あんま好きじゃないんですよ。
　なのでこういった感想にはむしろ共感するくらいなんです。
　なのになんでこんな急な方向転換を入れているのかと言うと、この物語のコンセプトが「ラスボス主人公」だったからです。
　蜘蛛っていうのは世界を滅ぼさんと人類の前に立ちはだかるラスボスが主人公の話だったんですね。
　前半パートは主人公がいかにラスボスとしての力を身に着けたか、後半パートはいかにして主人公がラスボスになったか、という話でした。
　ここら辺の方向転換含めて実験作だったわけです。

　ただ予想外なことに、どうせ読まれんやろーと思っていた今作は多くの方々に読んでいただけました。
　嬉しい誤算ってやつですね。
　ありがたいことです。
　実験作として無茶苦茶やったからこそ、目新しさから多くの方々の目にとどまったのかな、と思います。

　いろいろと言いたいことは多いですが、それを一から十までここで書いちゃうと膨大な量になっちゃうんで自重します。
　とりあえずこのシリーズを完結できてホッとしています。
　あと、やっぱり書いていて楽しかったです。
　途中、書籍化やアニメ化のプレッシャーで胃が痛くなったりもしましたが。
　好き勝手出来たＷＥＢ版と違って、書籍とかは責任が伴いますからね。
　やっぱ責任が伴うと違いますわ。
　まあ、でも、それ含めて楽しかったです。


　今後についてですが、執筆活動はこれからも続けていきます。
　ありがたいことに執筆でのお仕事を他でもいただいています。
　また、この小説家になろうでの活動も続けていきたいと思っています。
　お仕事で書くのと趣味で書くのはまた違うので。
　こちらでは主に趣味で書く枠の執筆をしていこうかと。
　あくまで趣味で書く感じなんで更新は気が向くままに、って感じになると思います。
　ていうかふぁんもんがまさにそうなってしまっていますし……。
　あれも気が向いたらそのうち再開すると思います。
　でも、それは放置して新しいのを書くかも……。
　書きたい構想はいろいろあるんですよね。
　と言っても、しばらくは長編には手をつけずに短編や中編をちょこちょこ書く感じになるんじゃないかと思います。
　……蜘蛛も中編のつもりで書き始めてこんな大長編になったんであんま当てにならないですが。

　あと、長年放置状態になってしまっている誤字脱字の修正もちょこちょこ進めていきたいところです。
　たくさんの誤字脱字報告ありがとうございます。
　それに応えるためにも頑張ります。
　それと同時に必要なさそうな前書きやあとがきも順次消していこうかなと思います。
　本日何話更新、とかそういう系とかですね。

　さてさて。
　ＷＥＢ版はこれで完結です。
　そして書籍のほうとアニメのほうも一区切りついています。
　が、かかし先生のコミックはまだまだ続いておりますし、グラタン鳥先生のスピンオフコミックもまだまだ続いております。

It was rushed, but much better than abandoning the story. Leaving how it was handed aside, I think I the ending from the WN makes more sense to me. I would be much happier if the author actually showed what happened (with the other character as well!) rather than summarizing everything in the epilogue but I'm still happy to see the wait is over. Many years waiting for this...

 

It's a shame it ended like this, but it could have been worse.

Its rush, yeah we all know. Too many unknowns, duh my boy Wrath is permanently dead. And Sophia is Sophia in the end, nothing says about her was said other than expectations.

Now I want some after stories. But It wont be happening, i guess???

 

Can't help but wonder if Sophia is going to cause the apocalypse now. Because even without skills, she should still be a vampire, no?

I think the plot thread that bugs me the most due to not being resolved were the implications that Dustin had some kind of nefarious purpose in mind regarding the reincarnated students. That was so recent.

 

That was just sad.

 

I found the ending vis-a-vis shiro decent? Like yes I expected her to be caught by D cuz D sees her as an interesting plaything and her kin so yeah.... What is a bit weird is that they barely showed anything that happened with the world after shiro was abruptly taken... Just mentioned in passing cuz well D was mostly only invested there cuz of Shiro... i would like to some side stories where it's from the characters who start to live in this post fantasy world....

i read the bit where it says the ending heavily diverges from the WN and stopped reading im happy with that and dont want to be spoiled

 

Ending was so bad, it makes no sense in a lot of ways. The pope, the dragons & etc... were all powerless in so many ways, all of the sudden they become the big bad boss & somehow Kumo forgets that guy can revive? Nevermind the reviving makes no sense, it was supposed to be breaking the soul apart but somehow he revived everyone again & again till he even had enough power to finish off our girl.

One of the worst endings ever, the author was soo good at writing interesting characters but all that plot building, development turned into shit. Furthermore, Kumo ended up as a pet in a freaking cage... made me puke, all that effort & all she did to protect everyone... she ended up as a pet in a cage, just stupid. What about her testing that technology that was made by high tier gods? This is beyond stupid.

I regret reading it, after years of no updates... I come back to see it has ended & it was one of the best isekai novels but all that was ruined. She was one of the best female lead characters, no stupid romance drama... she had sisterhood, friends & actual development. All ruined.
