To the older Nufies - Are you feeling connected to the younger generation?

So recently I have been in a discord call with a few younger kids (boys 14-18), 3 at the number. Like when I talked to them individually, it was fine. But when all were in the same call, they just devolved into screaming apes. They were also watching some TikTok stuff (?), and they somehow thought it was hilarious, but to me, it was simply not funny. "Even worse" they are like super anime fans, and they talked about some anime girls they want to ... that are bangers... . I just felt so removed from the conversation, like, WTF just happened?

Hmm we all have been that phase, the difference is they live in a age that is more free (internet) and high tech than we have been that age

 

feels like a grandpa entering babies playgroup...

I don't feel connected to my own generation so nothing new.

we are now the out of touch boomers, I would have thought I would need to be at least 30 for that to happen.
oh well, at least I can still lord my seniority on the internet over them.

I have discord, but I usually don't talk about much. I just like to tease the younger generation and sometimes give them insight about anything in general.

Honestly most of this generation that I have met does more positives than my generation. I remember all the kids in middle school using fake Identities on messenger trying to get women to send nudes on AOL 5.0 and bitching at their mom for using the phone which would log you off the internet.

I also remember my older brother printing a porn pic and the printer was fking dead slow and my mom was coming from work and she caught him and his friend printing them. XD

I heard the car I pretended to be in my room playing with my toy cars and came out when I heard the screaming with my innocent face. she punished my brother 2 weeks. he was 12 I was 11. XD

for the most part the younger generation when they are up to no good it's usually not at our lvl of bad most of them aren't doing the things me and my friends were doing at their age.

We were setting fires and vandalizing schools some of my friends were getting girls pregnant at 14-18 years old while or getting high or ex or weed sneaking out of the house with fake ID to get into a club and drinking or into a rave which was very normal in the 90s.

My cousin stole his parents car just to get laid his parents didn't find out because they sleep late on weekends and wake up like at 1pm.

the stuff the younger generation does is cute in comparison.

 

Back in my youth we used Internet Explorer, the internet was full of Viruses and few Sites even had Stylesheet it was just a html mess

Yo bro I think that was just your group - I don't think we got anyone pregnant but stealing, walking around with big balls, underage drinking, vandalizing and just terrorizing the neighborhood did happen sometimes.

I actually believe schools are much stricter now as well? Like we did flood the classroom, did fortress wars, sprayed with fire extinguisher, cursed at teachers and stuff. From what I have heard of younger brothers of friends you get kicked out for that rather quickly now. Maybe we were just better at hiding and cleaning up?

 

If you saw 5-10 fights at school in a week that was a slow week. just wearing the wrong under shirt could get you into a problem with a gang.

I had a usual spot just hide my brass knuckles before leaving school, because you never knew if someone was going to target you. just speaking to someone else's crush could make you a target. I remember I was passing by and I just looked at someone and they wanted to start something before he even said a word I was already swinging.

most kids start with a push or shove, but I could never push very well, but I could punch well and I had learned boxing since I was 5.

 

This is more like a rant toward newer NU members.

Many newer peeps on NU likes bloodthirsty action more and have problems with no drama slice of life. Can't they enjoy a bit of relaxing time for the MC and co?
It's so bad that they immediately give bad rating and review while generalizing the content and missing the details. Especially for slice of life with OP MC.

The worse part is those account who only shit reviews.

 

yea I remember some kids in my class fighting the teacher and only got 10 day suspension. I remember some of my friends skipping class smoking weed in the bathroom or some would hide from the cop parked out front go behind a bakery and smoke there.

 

Well, maybe it has to do with the general neighborhood huh? Personally I was really good at avoiding trouble, but I understand that some are not so lucky.

 

it wasn't the neighborhood it was rap influence at the time. those who listened to rap music separated themselves from the rockers and poser and so on blah blah blah.

And they were all wannabe gangsters who joined gangs and some would carry weapons around and beat up others for no reason. it was just a stupid time for all.

 

I know right? I was an outcast in my generation and in the following generation. Ironically generation alpha seems to think I'm acceptable? Mainly because all the stuff I watched when I was younger is making a comeback.
