In fact, the aunt is performing experiments on children and divine beasts, and has been using money to bribe key people in the kingdom to do her bidding in the dark. Most of the people on her side, servants, nobles, even her long time maid/friend, were on Wilhelm’s side. She’s been planning for a long time to take the throne herself. She was also the one who ordered to destroy the glass cover protecting Michael’s tulip (the priest that the empress had an affair with, ogJesse’s father) that lead to the Empress going crazy. I skipped chapters but I think this incident was blamed to ogJesse?

Elise cannot even condemn her father for killing Jesse because he was brainwashed to think he didn’t. Which means that even if archbishops use the Divine Oracle to check if he is lying, it will not work.

but after realizing her incompetence, she is on the road on make things right. She’s trying to win the support of commoners and the remaining nobles who are not good terms with Wilhelm. But it’s going to be difficult because they do not like how she’s been unaware of the things happening in the country for a long time despite her position and divine abilities. They believe it will be just easier for her to stay ignorant, to stay in the cage of love and affection of her father.
