Discussion How much age gap do you feel is acceptable for you?

Depends on what you're talking about. Though I don't really mind any kind of age gap, so long as it's all "legal".

 

in real life anyone older than me by 1 year or more is considered a senior, as in, I cannot behave normally around them...
unless you are referring to romance then....

 

It depends on how old both people are. My parents had a six year age gap, but met as adults, so that’s fine. But if they’d met as 10 and 16 years old, for example, that would not have been fine. The subs I subscribe to on Reddit have some sort of weird formula that they go on about, something like average of the age plus 7? I dunno. It always seemed weird to me to have a formula, so I never paid attention. I think, in the end, it depends on the maturity of the two individuals, but the larger the age gap the more likely, but not necessarily, there are to be problems. My dad and ex step-mom have a twenty year gap and I think that led to some problems. As far as I can tell, my dad’s healthiest relationships have been his last and current, with women who are about his age. (I haven’t met his current girlfriend, but he sounds happy, so that’s fine.) Mr. Hamster and I are about a year apart. My ex-step mom and her current husband are fairly close in age.

if the male is in younger side, then less than 10 years with the woman.
if the women is in younger side, age doesn't matter for the man(even in his nearly century old) so long the woman is already above 17 YO... or be safe above 21 YO.

My rules of thumb is ‘individual’s age’ +/- 5 years for adults (18+) but not lower than 18. 17 and below is +/- 1, MAYBE 2 years for the late teens.

If we count fantasy, where there are semi-immortals such as elves or vampires, it becomes a mess, but ‘adulthood’ is still the baseline.

 

6-7 years difference is normal. 8 is pushing it, but not unheard of.

It depends on everyone's age. I don't see any problems between a 30 years old dating an 80 years old.

OTOH, a 10 years old dating a 15 years old is a huge mess.

So really, depends on the age. The closer they are in maturity, the better.

Depends on how old they are at the time of relationship. If both are adults, it's okay. But if one of them is minor, then it's not. But I think upto 6 years is ok and upto 10 years is manageable. More than that might lead to an unhealthy relationship.

 

Until 33 years because I met a happy couple with such age gap...

 

Yo if you one of these leap year only birthday people technically your body age is older than your age according to birthdays so isn’t that semi pedoish?

 

As long as the said person is not a minor? But rather than age or age gap, it's more on maturity to be honest which makes me not want to date a minor or whatever lol

Age gap doesnt matter much to me (if it's someone younger than me, I have to reconsider than I usually have to, but Im not that old at the first place so I have smaller range of age younger than me to consider)

Im not fond of relationship with a partner that relies on me too much afterall

Everything over 21+ goes normally because it's the age where you *should* be mature enough to decide on your own.
