    that is oversimplifying it...
    Rather, I think... everything told is the truth, but not everything is told.
    eg.
    there may or may not be a special event on d5
    your role may have a hidden function that can activate under specific conditions
    or the Power of the neutral is not fully explained, but there are clues to work it out from flavour text.

    Then again games that are "bastard" do allow GM to lie. But that doesn't really happen here I don't think... maybe once? Twice?

    Bastard is a game that does not follow all or basically all of the standard rules of mafia, one of which rules is that the gm always tells the truth to the players. If telling the truth would break the game in away they just say I'm not allowed to say.

    2.2 it's basically where the game is 'bastard' in that lying is involved, but there are strict constraints on the lying, and hosts can't just lie willy-nilly.

    And at least you get to know your real role and everything in the original post is true.

    With full bastards, you might get fake roles and fake alignments and there are fake rules or something :blobrofl:

    There is also the special @Lenaia "bastard" game where you just really don't know what kind of crazy thing the GM will throw at you next. Might be the GM's own clone sneaking into the player list with OP abilities, might be GM's two clones, or even a "friendly" Neutral that will blow up town if night-killed. You just don't know. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
