    As I said, "it's not that she couldn't have a crush on the MC". As you've pointed out, there are plenty of reasons for her to be interested in him. What I disliked was that she stopped caring about Aracelli. People are capable of having friends they care about and also pining for someone at the same time. We see stuff from her perspective, and it is quite noticeable when "they" became "him", and seemingly remained that way the rest of her life.

    Edit: And "reeks of one of the worst harem cliches", in this case, was the tendency for MCs of such harems to become an emotional vortex that causes potential love interests to be incapable of forming a lasting emotional connection of any kind with someone else.

    Edit 2: And it's not that she never formed any kind of connection with Aracelli in the first place - she clearly did! But then it was harem time.
