So... I ended up finishing the novel after all! It was less depressing than expected (though still heartbreaking at times), since overall the MC tried to keep a positive outlook on things. It does help that the worst events all happened in the past, and we only see glimpses of them through flashbacks.
And of course events got better after he ran away midway through and they had a proper reconciliation. The ending and extras in particular are very sugary sweet <3

Overall, this novel did its complex multifaceted characters quite well, since you can see how the environment shaped these characters into the twisted versions of themselves that they are today.

Like I actually enjoyed the human flaws of MC’s mom’s character a lot: she was a huge narcissistic scumbag who used her son as a tool so many times. But to some extent, it was society that shaped her into an ambitious gold digger, since she never thought betas could be anything more than that. She did try to take care of MC on occasion, even if that often manifested as making him do unpleasant things against his wishes for ‘his own good’. Ex: when she made MC get the abortion, her reasoning was that when she gave birth to MC back in the day, she and MC both ended up suffering since she was too young to take care of him properly. (And it’s later revealed that out of some warped act of kindness, she was the one who told the doctors to keep MC’s womb in, leading to his miraculous second pregnancy.) Her logic is always twisted and distorted, but it’s sadly in line with the values of this fucked-up society.

For another example of a surprisingly complex character... ML’s dad Luo Qinghe is a dick who brutally whips his own son and forced ML to have a child with his own half-brother. It’s especially fucked up because as mentioned before, Luo Qinghe’s own life was effectively ruined by the forced bonding between him and a Xia family omega. In this way, the previous victims became another generation of perpetrators, repeating the cycle.
But he clearly does love ML’s mother Song Xiao, to the point where his violence towards ML is a result of his immense resentment towards Song Xiao “abandoning” him and their son. It’s implied that him forcing ML to have a child was his twisted version of “revenge” on Song Xiao, re-enacting his own trauma, kind of like “if I had to suffer and get trapped in my family’s business, your son must do the same.”
Still, in the end, he’s motivated to join politics and lead a Beta Equality Movement to break the cycle. He publicizes the Gland-removal surgery and undergoes it himself. In the extras it’s left rather ambiguous whether he and Song Xiao ever totally reconcile, but MC seems to think they’re sloooowly getting there.

On the other side of the coin, Song Xiao himself was stuck in an absolutely horrible situation: the love of his life was forcibly bonded to a random omega. This meant Luo Qinghe was now physiologically incapable of being attracted to anyone besides that omega. Even though Luo Qinghe professed his love and insisted he wouldn’t give up on making it work with Song Xiao, Song Xiao witnessed Luo Qinghe suffering (“locking himself inside a room, howling and roaring like a beast”) every time his heat rolled around due to being separated from the omega.
None of Song Xiao’s options in this situation were good. He chose the one that seemed best at the time: running away to live a wandering poor photographer’s life, leaving his husband and son behind since that way at least they would be able to live in luxury, right?
But Luo Qinghe ended up badly hurt since Song Xiao didn’t ask his opinion with this decision or trust him to at least try. And Song Bolao (ML) grew up yearning for his mother, resenting Song Xiao for abandoning him, feeling incredibly trapped and depressed in this family that treated him like a breeding stallion.

....Damn their society was suuuuper fucked-up lol

It's a lot, but you said it's just a portion, wow this novel has a lot in it!
I dont mind MTL, and having spoilers of what's going on will help me tremendously when I dont understand what's going on on certain things. That way, I can actually remember what I read/happen in the story XD If not, I might feel discourage to keep MTL ehehe

I’m so frustrated. Throughout the story, MC suffered too much, theres so much drama and I don’t mind it but their ‘misunderstanding without communication properly’ is just too much of a problem and it’s annoying because it’s all there is to it in this story. I would have read it if ML had awoken from his mistake being unreasonable and apology earlier than this. Even though he had suffer much but putting everyone under the same catalogue just because of his own ‘stupid-logic’ I hate that! I hope he could have suffer more under all those drama. Everything is just annoying and stupidly sad! (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`)

I just closed my eyes to the main plot and focused on the extras. Is soooo FLUFFYYY one thing i loved was the fact that the ML wasn't jealous of his children and tried to fight with them for his partner's attention, novels with those ML's always seemed so ridiculous to me. Imagine being a child and wanting to talk to your mother but your father either glares hatefully from the distance or throws you into boarding school..wack

Usually, for novels, I can tolerate the MC very well. The ML is the character that makes or breaks the story for me. You know how when you read novels, they always use fancy descriptions like peach blossom/phoenix eyes, silky hair, straight tall nose, beautiful jaw, 190+ meter tall, etc and I'm always like... ok, that's a good-looking guy. Next.

This novel is the only one where I find ML really SEXY . There's something about the author's writing. They don't describe much in details, just showing glimpses of things here and there and somehow that really works on me. Why is ML so hot...

Thanks for the news. I looked up the comic (https://manga.bilibili.com/detail/mc29755). It's just weird how the MC has silver hair since I always think he has black hair.

This story mixes the past and present scenes together so sometimes, it can be confusing to tell which is which. The background and the are revealed bit and bit over the course of the story (so if you want to avoid a ton of spoiler, don't click on the Spoiler button below). What I like is that MC is a strong character despite all the things he went through. His presence changed ML who eventually could break away from the family's shackles. ML was also very pitiful and likable. A pretty good read (to me at least).

World settings: About 100 years ago, the c20 virus killed everything not of blood type A, B or O. The survived alphas and omegas evolved. On paper, betas were considered the cornerstones of the society since they occupied all the dirty low-waged jobs. Truth was betas belong to the lowest caste due to their average looks and abilities. Alphas and betas were completely immune to c20 virus. Most betas were also immune but the dormant c20 in their bodies could break out and kill them. Unmarked omegas wore anti-biting rings and unbound alphas wore bite guards which could be unlocked via fingerprints. Both omegas and betas could be pregnant although it was rare for betas who could be pregnant only once. Betas needed laparotomy to give birth and their damaged uterus needed removal during the surgery. The law recognized the A-O relationship. Once the alpha marked the omega, the pair was psychologically bound for life even after death because both would develop negative reaction against intimacy with others except their partner.

ML was an alpha. His beta mother (Song Yu, SY) was a photographer. He met with ML's rich alpha father (Luo Qinghe, LQ) oversea, fell in love at first sight and took pictures of LQ. LQ made him delete the pictures. Since SY was poor, he sang on the street to make money. LQ often walked by, hearing SY singing love songs about him. Eventually, SY won LQ over. The Luo family was part of the Xia family. Since the Xias disagreed with the relationship, LQ fell out with them to marry SY and have ML. The Xias made plans to force LQ to mark Xia Qiao (XQ), the only son of the Xias. SY divorced LQ and moved away after the Xias requested SY not to contact ML. When he wanted to return to see ML, he fell down the mountain and broke his leg. Not wanting ML to see his disability, he contacted ML via letters instead. LQ secretly hid all of SY's letters and returned all letters ML tried to send to his mother.

After marrying Xia Qiao, LQ had another son (Xia Qianchi). LQ was indulgent to the new son but neglected his new spouse and turned abusive to ML. Xia Qiao was pregnant again but fell down the stairs and lost his ability to have more children. (It was unclear whether it was an accident or not.) When ML was a sophomore in university, the Xias and LQ wanted ML to have a child with Xia Qianchi, his half-brother. Qianchi was ok with it because he knew he didn't have long to live and wanted to leave something behind. ML refused but eventually was kidnapped and r*ped. Xia Qianchi died after giving birth to Song Mo. ML completely ignored Song Mo's existence. Xia Qiao raised his grandson for 3 years but due to his depression, Song Mo grew up with personality problem and couldn't talk. Once ML found out, he took Song Mo back. On the anniversary of Xia Qianchi's death, Xia Qiao threw himself in a lake. Thus, ML's stepdad and stepbrother both died.

MC was a beta just like his mother (Ning Shi, NS). She had an agreement with MC's rich father from the Zhu family to have either an alpha or omega baby as her condition to become the legal wife. She lost the bet. During MC's childhood, NS hated and abused him. When MC was of high school age, both of them moved to live with the Zhu family. MC had a younger omega half-brother named Zhu Li who pretended to be nice to MC but actually despised him.

MC's mother put MC in a famous private high school for alphas and omegas of the upper circle. Zhu Li made others abuse MC and secretly put a voice tracker in MC's clothes to monitor him. During lunchtime, MC often hid on the rooftop where he met ML. ML was a bit of a delinquent who often skipped classes. ML was nasty to MC during their first few meetings but saved MC a few times. ML ended up becoming fond of MC who shared his homemade desserts with him.

Both Zhu Li and ML were a year older than MC. Zhu Li also hated ML for taking over the 1st place in their grade. A few months before his high school graduation, Zhu Li used MC's words and faked MC's handwriting to write a love letter to ML. He asked MC to give the letter to ML in the equipment room. Once MC and ML met, they were locked inside where artificial pheromone was release. ML went mad and r*ped MC. Afterward, ML read the letter and thought MC used this trick to obtain his love and body. MC went to Zhu Li who admitted everything including the heap of abuse that MC had suffered by schoolmates. MC tried to contact ML but ML blocked his number. MC showed up at ML's house but it was also in vain. After trying for the entire summer, MC gave up.

After about five months, MC found out that he was pregnant. MC waited until ML got home from university to go to ML's house. This time, ML agreed to talk with him for 2 mins. MC tried to explain. ML just laughed at him, not believing him, telling MC that the way MC did it was what he hated the most and MC should be thank you that ML didn't kill him. When ML tried to leave, MC grabbed ML's hand, trying to tell ML that he was pregnant but couldn't say it when he realized that ML felt disgusted and that the way ML looked at him was the same as the way other omegas and alphas looked at him.

Returning home in the rain, MC broke down and told his mother he was pregnant but lied that he didn't know the father. MC's mother convinced MC to get an abortion. At first, MC agreed and signed the consent form but changed his mind. He was still forced to abort the child. Once MC healed up, MC's mother took him to a tattoo shop to cover the scar on his stomach. MC chose not to hide the scar and asked the tattoo artist to tattoo a fresh scar tattoo instead.

MC moved out to live with a roommate and worked as an apprentice at a baker's shop. He earned money by streaming cake baking and decoration. After a few years, the master baker/store owner got sick. Scared that he would lose the cake shop to MC, the son stole MC's cake design idea during an International Cake Contest to give it to his omega lover (Chang Xingze) who won the 1st place while MC was wrongly accused of plagiarism and lost his baking license. MC's viewership, thus, plummeted and he barely made a living.

The story started 7 years after ML and MC's falling out in high school. The Xia and Zhu family planned to have a political marriage between ML and Zhu Li. However, Zhu Li overheard that the Xia family didn't plan to let him have children so that the heir would be Song Mo, ML's current child. Zhu Li planned to let himself marked by another alpha and thus disqualified himself as a marriage partner. MC's mother met up with MC to convince him to marry ML instead. MC agreed after she promised to meet his child who was still alive and 20M in dowry as compensation.

MC woke up in the hospital with ML next to him. MC had broken two tendons in his hand but it could be completely recovered. ML told MC a few things about the event and told MC to be careful. MC found ML odd because ML kept looking at his stomach. MC wondered if his stomach pain was due to an incurable disease. The family doctor talked to MC and MC asked her if he had a tumor. She said nope.
- The day before getting discharged, MC woke up in the middle of the night and found ML sitting next to his bed. ML asked MC if he remembered the conversation they had previously, whether MC remembered his answer when being asked what if MC was pregnant. MC said he remembered. "Get rid of it." MC was confident with his answer, knowing he couldn't be pregnant anyway. ML said, "Yes, get rid of it. Kill our child." Feeling a little creeped out, MC asked ML why ML mentioned it. ML said nothing and left to smoke.
- At last, MC returned home. In the bedroom, there was a new mimosa on the window sill. MC was like... what's the point of compensating him with a new flower pot? It wasn't the original one. MC took a nap. Later, MC was presented with a sumptuous dinner and wondered why because ML didn't get that treatment when ML was sick. In the middle of eating, ML's father (LQ) came to talk to MC. LQ said ever since MC married ML, a lot of troubles happened. MC wasn't a qualified partner for ML and ML's child, Song Mo, didn't need him. Thus, he wanted MC to divorce ML. Inside, MC wanted to give LQ an applaud for supporting the divorced. But then LQ dropped a bomb, telling MC they would take care of MC's child and compensate MC so MC didn't have to worry about it. MC was shocked. Pregnant, child,... what? Thinking MC was pretending, LQ mocked him because hey, how could people at the hospital and others not tell him.
- MC recalled the conversation with ML in the hospital and realized that ML wasn't asking a hypothetical question at all. ML really meant to kill their child. MC asked LQ if he brought the divorce paper with him. LQ left two copies of the document and left. MC flipped through 20+ pages of it, seeing the prenup that his mother had signed and other things like conditions, terms, rules and his monetary compensation. MC signed it. He took nothing but his new diary and left the papers and the wedding ring on the table to avoid suspicion. MC told the assistant that he was going to see a friend and let the driver drop him off at a cafe. At a nearby store, MC bought a pregnancy and took a taxi back to his old apartment where he packed up his clothes and an old ID card. After leaving a message to his old roommate, saying he was divorced and had to leave the city, MC grabbed all the cash that he could and bought a bus ticket to a warm city in the south. At the bus station, ML called MC, asking where he went, what the paper meant and he wouldn't sign it. MC said he wasn't ML's slave and he was free to leave ML at any time. MC heard ML smashing something. ML asked, "You can't wait to leave me?" MC wanted to know whether ML knew he was pregnant when he asked MC about his attitude toward the child. ML said yes. MC asked if ML felt good about his answer. ML said, "You can't give birth to this child. Since you don't want it, it's all right to knock it out." MC felt hurt, thinking whether it was 7 years ago or now, ML would not leave his child alive. ML didn't want him. If MC was an omega, ML might have listened to his instinct but MC was a beta. Since ML didn't want him or his children, MC had nothing to look forward to. MC said, "I lied to you. I won't kill him. I'll give birth to this child but he'll have nothing to do with you. He'll be my own child." ML was very surprised because he thought MC didn't want the child. Then MC cut off the phone call and shut down the phone.
- Having arrived to the new city, MC rented a small apartment. At the supermarket, he met Song Yu, ML's mom, without knowing the other man's identity. SY recognized MC because he'd seen MC in magazines. They turned out to be neighbors. Both became familiar and visited a clinic together. SY had a limp and needed physical therapy. MC wanted to get checked out because as a beta, he shouldn't be pregnant twice. The doctor found out that MC's uterus wasn't removed as it should and advised MC to give up on the child or his life would be at risk. SY asked MC to consult his partner and MC said he was divorced. SY asked what about the child. Didn't he want it? MC said they weren't married out of love. ML didn't love him and didn't want his children.
- After a week, MC called his friend who was a little upset at MC for leaving so sudden and making him worry. He asked about the divorce. MC said ML's dad made him sign it. Guy said the day after MC left, ML came by to ask for MC's whereabouts and he took ML to their old apartment to find MC. Guy apologized for not stopping ML from taking possession of MC's old diary. MC said it was fine. His diary only had mundane daily things. MC had nothing to hide. Plus, MC didn't believe ML would be able to go through all seven years of records.
- MC called the monk to thank for the help and apologized about the delay. The monk told MC that 2 days ago, he tried to call MC but couldn't contact him. Thus, he went down the mountain and met ML who asked about his business. He told ML about the dead child and answered all of ML's questions about him child. MC was upset. The monk said he was a monk and couldn't lie. Soon, the monk saw the errors of his way because MC and ML had only married for less than a year but the child was dead 7 years ago. Soon, the monk realized that he could have shut up and not said anything. MC tried to deal, wondering if ML felt lucky since the child wasn't born but he hoped ML would feel a bit sad.
- Curious about ML's thought, MC took out the old phone card and inserted it. There were some spams, a few missed calls and a bunch of text messages from various people. He read some of ML's text messages.
"There was no other alpha at all? I was the only one from beginning to end? You were pregnant with my child seven years ago, right?"
"Ning Yu, call me back, tell me where you are."
"Do you want to drive me crazy? Ning Yu? Call me back, please call me back..."
While MC was still reading, ML, who had bugged MC's phone, called him. Scared, MC shut down the phone. MC had to lie down after a bad nosebleed. He thought a bit about ML. Both of them never had a good relationship so what if ML knew about the dead child. No problemas. MC took a nap and went to the clinic again with Song Yu. MC gave his answer that he wanted to keep the child. SY asked MC to talk to ML again about the child because perhaps ML only didn't want the child because of the risk. MC said it wasn't ML's problem. He used to think they were both similar since their mothers were betas but ML didn't trust him. MC had suffered through a lot of hardship but he never hated anyone. ML was the only one who made him feel resented. MC added that ML's dad didn't like him and ML probably had signed the divorce paper since if ML didn't sign the divorce paper, he might get whipped.
- That night, MC had a fever. Before dawn arrived, ML rang the door bell. Realizing that he couldn't avoid ML now t hat ML had shown up and deciding that ML wouldn't be violent to him, MC opened the door. ML cut a very sorry figure. He called MC's name and hugged him, saying he'd been looking for MC for 8 days. ML noticed that MC's temperature was off and wanted to take him to the hospital. MC was like no need. Due to the commotion, Song Yu came by to check on MC. The mother and son recognized each other. Soon, MC passed out.
- MC woke up in the hospital feeling ML kissing his hand. MC wanted to know the truth about what went wrong with him. ML said MC might be infected by the c20 virus. MC wanted to know if he could drag it out for 4 more months. (Kid wouldn't survive if he was 6 month old or less and MC was already 2 month pregnant.) MC said if the kid survived, he would ask his friend to raise him without telling him about ML. ML didn't need to recognize the kid so please let him give birth to him. ML got mad, telling MC whether the child survived or it, it was still his child. Since ML wasn't dead, don't dream about having his child call another man father. At last, ML admitted that he wanted the child but only acted as such because MC's body wasn't suitable for a second birth. ML told MC on the day he overheard MC's conversation with Zhu Li in the restroom, he had people go to investigate the truth. The result came back just a few days ago. With the investigation, the monk's words and MC's old diary which ML had read all, ML put together the truth. ML asked if MC never liked him. MC said nope, which killed ML a bit inside.
- The three of them flew back. MC tested out at a better hospital and the result confirmed that the c20 virus did break out. MC considered writing a will, thought about a name for his child, and wondered if he could take the baker license with his still hurt hand. Soon, MC started developing rashes, a symptom from the virus.
- Everyone figured out that the shaddy dad hid ML's letters to his mother (SY). ML's parents had a fight. SY's logic: he had no choice but to leave. LQ had marked Xia Qiao who was also innocent and the two's relationship was recognized by law. LQ also could not resist his instinct toward Xia Qiao no matter what he tried. LQ's logic: SY left him despite his begging and didn't trust that he could resist his alpha instinct. It was a form of betrayal. LQ wanted to be the one who made the decision instead of SY. Since SY left, he should be gone for good instead of trying to contact whenever he pleased. LQ became like this to ML because of ML reminded him of SY so it was all SY's fault. Later in the story, SY had a surgery to recover the full function of his leg.
- Song Mo came to the hospital to see MC. Seeing MC and his son's interaction, ML commented that MC really liked him. MC said everyone liked a good boy. ML said since he was a child, he was never a good boy. No wonder no one liked him... MC thought it was nonsense since ML always attracted a lot of people with his 'bad boy' image. In fact, ML was quite promiscuous during high school and slept with a lot of people.
- ML moved his office to MC's hospital room. ML told MC about his parents' love story. He said that he thought that MC's sweet given to him in high school were tokens of love just like his mother's love songs to his father. ML asked MC why he agreed to the marriage if MC didn't like him. MC realized that because of Zhu Li's fake letter, ML always thought that MC loved him and would tolerate him no matter what he did. In ML's mind, ML was the only victim and MC was a rapist who would use dirty means to get the person he liked and eventually obtained him 7 years later. Sighing, MC told ML that his mother lied and tricked him and that he would agree even if the other person wasn't ML. ML was stunned. MC thought the reason ML wasn't angry might be because MC was near his death bed. ML asked if the marriage was really just because of the child. MC said yep. ML asked about MC's last wish. MC said he wanted the baker's license. ML asked what else. MC said none. Later, after waking up and seeing ML sleeping on the sofa next to the bed, MC thought that he had another wish — he wanted ML's apology but he knew that was just a pipe dream.
- MC met Chang Xingze in the hospital and learnt Xiang Ping went to the prison and that ML was the bidder who won the cake shop at the online auction.
- After getting discharged, MC asked ML about the cake shop. ML gave MC the shop's title and asked if MC wanted it. Happy, MC smiled but froze when ML was about to touch his lip. At night, ML came to their room to sleep together, reassuring MC that he wouldn't do anything to him.
- Next day, they met up with the monk for the ceremony. ML called the monk uncle and got chided for it. Seeing that the monk worried about his health, MC explained that he was pregnant. The monk felt it was inappropriate for ML to join them but MC said it didn't matter since the dead child was also ML's. Soon, the ceremony started and ML saw the familiar flower pot. *Pikachu's surprised face* MC realized ML was hurt but didn't feel any happiness on other people's pain. Afterward, they thanked the monk and left. MC thought that when people died, they would return to earth and poured the soil out of the pot. ML tried to stop him but the wind carried the ashes away and the pot rolled down the mountain. MC told ML that when he died, he didn't want a tomb. Instead, he wanted his ashes scattered in the sea. ML looked at MC with red eyes but didn't get angry. Instead, ML smiled and told MC that MC really didn't leave him anything. They stayed until sunset and walked back when MC got tired. On the way, MC walked behind and played with ML's shadow. This story mixes the past and present scenes together so sometimes, it can be confusing to tell which is which. The background and the are revealed bit and bit over the course of the story (so if you want to avoid a ton of spoiler, don't click on the Spoiler button below). What I like is that MC is a strong character despite all the things he went through. His presence changed ML who eventually could break away from the family's shackles. ML was also very pitiful and likable. A pretty good read (to me at least).

World settings: About 100 years ago, the c20 virus killed everything not of blood type A, B or O. The survived alphas and omegas evolved. On paper, betas were considered the cornerstones of the society since they occupied all the dirty low-waged jobs. Truth was betas belong to the lowest caste due to their average looks and abilities. Alphas and betas were completely immune to c20 virus. Most betas were also immune but the dormant c20 in their bodies could break out and kill them. Unmarked omegas wore anti-biting rings and unbound alphas wore bite guards which could be unlocked via fingerprints. Both omegas and betas could be pregnant although it was rare for betas who could be pregnant only once. Betas needed laparotomy to give birth and their damaged uterus needed removal during the surgery. The law recognized the A-O relationship. Once the alpha marked the omega, the pair was psychologically bound for life even after death because both would develop negative reaction against intimacy with others except their partner.

ML was an alpha. His beta mother (Song Yu, SY) was a photographer. He met with ML's rich alpha father (Luo Qinghe, LQ) oversea, fell in love at first sight and took pictures of LQ. LQ made him delete the pictures. Since SY was poor, he sang on the street to make money. LQ often walked by, hearing SY singing love songs about him. Eventually, SY won LQ over. The Luo family was part of the Xia family. Since the Xias disagreed with the relationship, LQ fell out with them to marry SY and have ML. The Xias made plans to force LQ to mark Xia Qiao (XQ), the only son of the Xias. SY divorced LQ and moved away after the Xias requested SY not to contact ML. When he wanted to return to see ML, he fell down the mountain and broke his leg. Not wanting ML to see his disability, he contacted ML via letters instead. LQ secretly hid all of SY's letters and returned all letters ML tried to send to his mother.

After marrying Xia Qiao, LQ had another son (Xia Qianchi). LQ was indulgent to the new son but neglected his new spouse and turned abusive to ML. Xia Qiao was pregnant again but fell down the stairs and lost his ability to have more children. (It was unclear whether it was an accident or not.) When ML was a sophomore in university, the Xias and LQ wanted ML to have a child with Xia Qianchi, his half-brother. Qianchi was ok with it because he knew he didn't have long to live and wanted to leave something behind. ML refused but eventually was kidnapped and r*ped. Xia Qianchi died after giving birth to Song Mo. ML completely ignored Song Mo's existence. Xia Qiao raised his grandson for 3 years but due to his depression, Song Mo grew up with personality problem and couldn't talk. Once ML found out, he took Song Mo back. On the anniversary of Xia Qianchi's death, Xia Qiao threw himself in a lake. Thus, ML's stepdad and stepbrother both died.

MC was a beta just like his mother (Ning Shi, NS). She had an agreement with MC's rich father from the Zhu family to have either an alpha or omega baby as her condition to become the legal wife. She lost the bet. During MC's childhood, NS hated and abused him. When MC was of high school age, both of them moved to live with the Zhu family. MC had a younger omega half-brother named Zhu Li who pretended to be nice to MC but actually despised him.

MC's mother put MC in a famous private high school for alphas and omegas of the upper circle. Zhu Li made others abuse MC and secretly put a voice tracker in MC's clothes to monitor him. During lunchtime, MC often hid on the rooftop where he met ML. ML was a bit of a delinquent who often skipped classes. ML was nasty to MC during their first few meetings but saved MC a few times. ML ended up becoming fond of MC who shared his homemade desserts with him.

Both Zhu Li and ML were a year older than MC. Zhu Li also hated ML for taking over the 1st place in their grade. A few months before his high school graduation, Zhu Li used MC's words and faked MC's handwriting to write a love letter to ML. He asked MC to give the letter to ML in the equipment room. Once MC and ML met, they were locked inside where artificial pheromone was release. ML went mad and r*ped MC. Afterward, ML read the letter and thought MC used this trick to obtain his love and body. MC went to Zhu Li who admitted everything including the heap of abuse that MC had suffered by schoolmates. MC tried to contact ML but ML blocked his number. MC showed up at ML's house but it was also in vain. After trying for the entire summer, MC gave up.

After about five months, MC found out that he was pregnant. MC waited until ML got home from university to go to ML's house. This time, ML agreed to talk with him for 2 mins. MC tried to explain. ML just laughed at him, not believing him, telling MC that the way MC did it was what he hated the most and MC should be thank you that ML didn't kill him. When ML tried to leave, MC grabbed ML's hand, trying to tell ML that he was pregnant but couldn't say it when he realized that ML felt disgusted and that the way ML looked at him was the same as the way other omegas and alphas looked at him.

Returning home in the rain, MC broke down and told his mother he was pregnant but lied that he didn't know the father. MC's mother convinced MC to get an abortion. At first, MC agreed and signed the consent form but changed his mind. He was still forced to abort the child. Once MC healed up, MC's mother took him to a tattoo shop to cover the scar on his stomach. MC chose not to hide the scar and asked the tattoo artist to tattoo a fresh scar tattoo instead.

MC moved out to live with a roommate and worked as an apprentice at a baker's shop. He earned money by streaming cake baking and decoration. After a few years, the master baker/store owner got sick. Scared that he would lose the cake shop to MC, the son stole MC's cake design idea during an International Cake Contest to give it to his omega lover (Chang Xingze) who won the 1st place while MC was wrongly accused of plagiarism and lost his baking license. MC's viewership, thus, plummeted and he barely made a living.

The story started 7 years after ML and MC's falling out in high school. The Xia and Zhu family planned to have a political marriage between ML and Zhu Li. However, Zhu Li overheard that the Xia family didn't plan to let him have children so that the heir would be Song Mo, ML's current child. Zhu Li planned to let himself marked by another alpha and thus disqualified himself as a marriage partner. MC's mother met up with MC to convince him to marry ML instead. MC agreed after she promised to meet his child who was still alive and 20M in dowry as compensation.

I love that MC achieved happiness but I wished that Zhu Li that bitch would have suffered more. Like a detail plan on how to make his life more miserable and I wish that Yan guy who was that bitch's victim will be together with his lover.
