@Overlord2019 ... Mm, if I were guessing, ice fishing especially would help since the cold could kill the parasites, yeah.
Not so sure about the rest of that claim though.
Scurvy is a lack of vitamin c, but fish has bugger all in it. Some parts (like liver and roe) are higher but you're talking the difference between 12mg/100g and 4mg/100g. Just about any common dried fruit will beat that by as much as 10x... but when I poked around looking for what they might have been using for vit c, oh wow. Arctic climates apparently have cloudberries as a native wild plant and that was a traditional source at an impressive 158mg/100g, more than most citrus fruits, not that you'd want that much when recommended for adults is only in the 50-100mg/day range. They also preserve really well with little effort. So yeah, definitely not eating raw fish to avoid scurvy.

Even if they were though, normal cooking of fish has almost no effect on the vit c content. The cooking that impacts nutrients is boiling (cause of the water soluble ones) and high temp cooking (hot enough to damage proteins) while other methods either don't effect things much. Cooking can make food easier to digest by breaking up difficult structures. The simplification is just another nutrition scam, though probably less harmful than most fad diets are.

And finally... I feel that diet and cooking changes were likely one of the less disruptive things European colonists inflicted on the native populations we "helped". Let's say, I rank it in the middle of the apologetic scale, where spreading education and industrialization is at one end while slavery, slaughter and stealing are at the other.

They probably just lived and died with the consequences.

Many cultures back in those times had REALLY low mortality rates.

Elders were in part valued not just for their wisdom but also because you practically had to be blessed by some godly being to live that long.

Most parasites won't kill you instantly and might only deadly when combined with other complications or after years. So they likely would have just attributed any deaths caused by random chance rather than raw fish or any other meat they ate raw.

In the end eating raw meat or eggs is basically a dice roll. You MIGHT be perfectly fine, but you could also die. So it's better to simply be on the safe side and cook those foods properly.

Not to mention eating raw meat is a waste of nutrients most of the time.

Eggs are an odd one, supposedly the reason they are so risky raw is because of how they're cleaned before sale.

    Just remembered.
    Goblin can impregnated human women.
Goblin is little similar to human with some intelligent.
After Van introduced recipe to cook goblin all humans, who can't buy anything more expensive, started eating goblins. Isn't this also cannibalism? Doesn't this mean all humans are cannibals?

No, a lion can have a offspring with a tiger and is not a cannibal for eating the tiger.

No, because of the mechanisms used in Goblin/Ork reproduction. They basically use the "mother" as an incubator for their clones, she contributes nothing genetically, as her DNA is overwritten by the Goblin/Ork parent's DNA.

Note : Vida's single gender races do not seme to work this way, as traits of the father are inherited, and several can have children/sons of the father's race as well. Those would have to be be something in the mitochondrial DNA being what separates the racers, but it only working on women. Or just magic.

Also. In Morksy where Van started selling his food (and most likely in all cities, not just Morksy) others where selling food made from monster parts, they got from Adventure guild. Adventure guild got them from adventurers as subjugation proof. Because many Vida races are considered as monsters, this mean they body parts was brought as proof of subjugation, and most likely appeared as food on many poor human tables. In Aldas territory even more Vida races could been eaten by humans.

High goblins and Dark goblins (like Bragga) are sentient.

    Noble Orcs are sentient.

    The "normal" variants are not.

As such, eating them is never a moral issue, but goblins are simply not palatable, aside from "Gobu Gobu," a recipe born of sheer desperation.

The only race that has a problem eating orcs is the Noble Orc. Only the most heinous of orc criminals are eaten by other orcs. The humans... aren't so picky about eating other humans or humanoids.

Orcs are sapient. They're dumb, but still "intelligent" life, more or less. Goblins seem to be literally just animals. Even the high goblin nation doesn't seem to let them in.

From an in universe POV I don't think any of the races take issue with eating each other, for the most part? Scylla tentacles are consumed by humans, ghouls eat literally anything they can catch, everyone eats orcs and so on. Same with harvesting each other for parts. There's a basic moral equivalency between humans killing ghouls to use their poison and stuff and ghouls killing humans for brunch.

Van doesn't make any judgements because he knows it's either do it or starve. That, and he's clinically insane.

Vida's races, especially ghouls, are pretty much resigned to the fact that humans hunt them for their body parts.

The only race that has a problem eating orcs is other orcs. It's "dehumanizing" for lack of a better term if an orc is eaten by other orcs, as it would indicate said orc has done something so heinous that he's not even considered worthy of being more than rations.

The humans are implied to see criminal slaves as rations in times of war, if we take the text in chapters 261-268 as written.

The humans DO, however, take exception to the ghouls converting/killing and eating them, in self defense, as pointed out by the five condiments last special chapter, where Ketchup proclaims that ghouls are inherently evil for killing and eating male adventurers and converting females, completely overlooking the fact that said adventurers, such as himself, are armed invaders in ghoul territory, and it's acceptable not only to gather ghoul body-parts for sale, a practice he's keen on continuing at all times, but it's common for male adventurers to capture, rape, and enslave ghoul females to use for sexual purposes, as highlighted several times.

Heck, even Edward, the merchant that came to the rescue of Morksi during Fitun's rampage, tried to pressure Darcia into opening a temple that has ghoul sacred prostitutes! (Which is a real-world thing, btw, just check out the history of both Greece and the Holy Roman Empire).

For all his insistence that he's working to return Lambda to the utopian paradise he remembers, Alda's done screwed up royal, and continues to screw up royal because he just can't admit he's wrong. To his credit, he doesn't punish his followers for following his orders when that blows up, and accepts the responsibility there, but he never, ever is willing to admit that his orders themselves could be wrong.

As a side note, the idea of operating prostitution via a temple service is brilliant on multiple levels, providing the prostitutes are consenting.

Yeah because the cloaca is the single hole where urine, fecal matter and eggs are dropped out of. The eggs also come out with waxy exteriors that normally serve to keep them from rotting quickly (I think they normally wash this off in the U.S. and thats why you need to store your eggs in the fridge). Also in order to even get raw egg you need to crack them open and if they aren't cleaned properly then you're just adding any surface bacteria that came from that cloaca to your eggs.

Can you please stop bashing everything and everyone Alda/Heinz related when we're not talking about them? You're kind of obsessed with those two.

Anyway, I wouldn't say the ghouls are resigned to having their parts harvested. I think they consider it to be no different than them harvesting kobolds and stuff for potion ingredients or them eating humans. I guess they're resigned in the sense of "Aw, dang, they got me" but not so much "Alas, poor us, we can do nothing to fight our fates."

The problem isn't so much where they come from, it's that waxy layer. It's meant to protect the content from pathogens, if you wash it off the shell isn't enough to keep out stuff like salmonella. When you wash that off the egg essentially determines how long the egg is vulnerable to contamination, get it right and the raw egg is much safer.
