An ancient or historical setting with the MC as the general or emperor. I prefer general. As for the rebirth aspect, it could be that MC and ML had misunderstanding and did not know that they loved each other and one party dies. Shou MC is fine but I prefer Gong MC in this type of setting. Oh and it would be better if they get the memories of their previous life. Eg. 风雪故人来（重生）and 当年铁甲动帝王[重生]
