Hey yall, me and my friends wanted to try our hand on translating novels, but i can't seem to find a way to setup a site. last time i tried my hands at wordpress, i even bought the vip package thingy so you can get advertisements and stuff running and use plugins to set it up but it was bugging the hell out of me. you guys got any tips or which site to use to host your site?
The key question is what you were having problems with. You really can't get much simpler than a wordpress site. If it's the advertisements and stuff, that's a different can of worms.
Suggest you reach out to people who have experience to help you set it up. I think @Wujigege can help you out.
I wanted to setup a template on the site where if i'm adding a new novel, then all i need to do is write the name, add picture and then when i'm updating chapters all i need to do is place it where it belongs, like chapter 1, 2 and etc. but when i wanted to do it, it was super weird, stuff interferred with eachother and one second im making the homepage but the next second the homepage becomes the novel page or something like that.
That's the first mistake, using wordpress.com. It's much more easier to use webhosting and install Wordpress in it. probably much cheaper too. Wordpress.com forbid you from using third party plugin even tho that's the best part of Wordpress. Now that you already buy domain from there, you need to stick there, since transfering domain need cost too and probably also cheaper to buy another domain haha.. edit : You might wanna search the difference between wordpress.com vs wordpress.org through google. then you can try to view some wordpress tutorial in youtube. If you have some budget, you can commission me to build your novel website. You can dm me via discord : BRE#6229
Hmm...I wonder if it's because of Wordpress's "Pages" and "Posts" that are tripping you up. Posts are used for day to day blog posts. Pages are used for specific pages like home, story chapter, etc. I think a common wordpress arrangement with translators is to use a post as a preview to point to a chapter page with the full chapter.
