Question what's the worst adaptation of a novel you've ever seen?

have come some across awful manga\hua_hwa , anime or drama\live action of amazing novels , what's the worst of them?

 

The only one that I can think of right now is LOTM's manhua adaptation, it did not do justice to the novel at all. Though I guess it might not be the worst

The classics are like that Super Mario movie or the Street Fighter movie. Or even those Dragonball movies. But the biggest one recently is The Wheel Of Time series. That just piss me off

 

Pretty much the reason why I never watch such movies

not really as horrible as people (Mostly just CGI hate) say it is but I dont like how the authors beautiful work turned into that mess

many of the Chinese live action adaptations of popular xianxia like BTTH and Douluo Dalu are terrible
several well loved fantasy series have horrible live actions and many manga/ anime as well

I’d say the 2002 TV movie Count of Monte Cristo

 

I hate the 2013 and 2018 adaptions of Jin Yong's Smiling Proud Wanderer with a passion. The 2020 short film wasn't half bad though. But I'm still skeptical about the upcoming donghua.

dunno about that , mo dao zu shi , tian guan ci fu , liu yo ... a lot of them had amazing donghuas and if it's live action we're talking about the untamed wasn't half bad ,
i think that bl had better adaptations than any other chinese genre , like , have you seen wuxia adaptations ?it's just miserable

 

All of mystery novels adaptation are 10x worse than the original.

 

tbh Chinese manhua adaptation almost always sucks. I hate what they did to my favorite novel INEBM. Like they're so far behind korean manhwa/webtoons

 

The worst, maybe stuff like Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball Evo or Avatar

Netflic was so in denial over their death note that's so dead.
Those that need CG and green screen are the one fail so much.

 

Not a novel but I was pretty disappointed with how the Bride of the Water God came out. I really liked its manhwa and was pretty excited with how it's gonna come out but mhm, the series was so different to the story I know. I don't even know why they inserted a modern world there, I know for sure that they're not lacking historical costumes as well as the ancient houses so waaaah. Take that with a grain of salt though, a lot of people I know seemed to really love the show.
