Is it not because he deposited the package (+ the pants) on his room?
Putting something on is wearing it
Putting in something is depositing/leaving it in a place.

It's a barrage post in like live broadcasting.

A comment shipped a maid waitress to the anchor, then one comment said.
    【楼上,请带我上车!】
[Upstairs, please take me to the car! ]

it doesn't really mean car, does it

also this, after the anchor talked about his type.
    【咦,主播喜欢高冷类型吗?御姐?】
[Hey, does the anchor like high-cold types? Mistress? 】

    what does 御姐?mean

and then there was a another comment.
    【高冷也不一定要御姐吧,男的也行啊。】
[Gao Leng doesn't have to want a royal sister, it's okay to be a man. 】

whats Gao Leng, and what do they mean by this sentence

okay ik what gao leng is but what do they mean by that sentence

    【上,请带我上车!】

Correct me if I’m wrong but this might mean getting in the same boat and shipping a couple. You said that people were shipping a maid waitress to the anchor so it might just mean that the person who commented 【上,请带我上车!】
said in a jokingly manner like “hey we have the same idea so please take me so we can go together and ship them.” Like how you would say if you took a taxi and the other customers were going to the same destination as you.

    【咦,主播喜欢高冷类型吗?御姐?】

“御姐” here refers to mature women. It’s the kind of wormen who usually have successful careers and plenty of confidence. They are usually wormen in their 20ish to late 30ish. (Not really sure if I got the number right but you should get the idea).

    【高冷也不一定要御姐吧,男的也行啊。】

Gao Leng is just the pinyin form of the words “高冷”. (If your using google translate then it might just given you the pinyin form of the word) it mean aloof, reserved, cold, etc. This sentence might mean how he doesn’t necessary have to go after the female/women but males can work as well.

After writing this I realized that I might have let down parents. Even though I understand Chinese my translating skill still sucks. :blob_teary::facepalm:So do correct me if I’m wrong. I’m pretty sure I got most of the general meaning. :blobcheeky:

    1. 【楼上,请带我上车!】 = "previous commenter, please share the porn with me!"
Literally it will translate to `upstairs, please take me on your car!' upstairs = comment above you. car is like slang for dirty stuff. so driving a car is sharing nsfw content, and going on the car means to go to the nsfw content.
    2. 【咦,主播喜欢高冷类型吗?御姐?】 = "eh, the anchor likes cold types? onee-san?"
御姐 is just onee-san in chinese characters. if you aren't familiar , it's basically a mature woman lol
    3. 【高冷也不一定要御姐吧,男的也行啊。】 = "cold type doesn't necessarily mean onee-san, it can also mean male"

this person suggested to do this for a live broadcast, from what's next, i think he wanted to be a fake couple with mc. is this like a slang?? or can it be directly "We can be a fake couple...??????

According to Baidu, 麦 麸 means to make open acts of ambiguity with the same sex, so you were basically right?
Baidu is such a lifesaver for slang ^^

(also, I just made an acc to reply here so thats why this acc is brand new and can't post the link to the article BUT you can go to Baidu's site to get a better understanding)

First of all, I am not a translator so no footnotes for me. And in novels it's usually mentioned as what the gift is, and even the gift tiers are also included, so unless you just don't translate half of the chapter, it seems quite important. Chinese do emphasize a lot on how much a gift costs, especially when showing of ml richness. And i feel it's important to mention what the gift is when the value difference might be hundreds or thousands of times, like one costs 1yuan and the other 100000 yuan. And yes there are such differences. You can't just say this gift cost this much that gift cost that much, cuz they are not gifting money. And different gifts have different special effects

Unfortunately, that's not how it should be done in my opinion. For narration and settings, yes, you can explain as detailed as your want. But for dialogues, you should keep it as natural as possible in English. Otherwise, it sounds very clunky.

If the gift is truly valuable, and it plays a major role in the story, webnovel authors will tend to write other people's reactions. You don't need to translate word for word every time. It is a bad practice.

the explanations are obviously not in the dialogues. they are also not chunky if translated properly. I do read a lot of novels, so from experience I can tell that they do not feel out of place (though the credit is also for the translator), but i do feel that translating gift names, or names in general and not renaming however you like is important. because once the translator changes, it can become a completely different story and not in a good way. For example, when in a chinese novel the emperors name is in japanese. it feels weird

by the way, which novels are you translating? I noticed you are from otaku tl

Your example seems to be irrelevant to our discussion. And also my point is that dialogues shouldn't be translated word for word. But you seems to be talking about narration and description.

My active projects are demon king, this game is too realistic and buddist life.

Superdelicate already translated everything well, but just FYI:

楼上 in this case refers to the post immediately above them. Usually when you're talking about internet forum comments in a webnovel context, they are marked 1楼, 2楼 etc., sometimes shortened to 1L, 2L (short for lou, the pinyin of the character), meaning replies to a specific topic. So you'll sometimes see replies referring to a specific 楼 along the lines of, "1楼 must be nuts, don't know what they're talking about," etc. It doesn't have anything to do with stairs, they are talking about specific posts in a thread.

    这语气也太正经了,每一句话还会加个句号,像村干部一样。楚虔泽忍不住想,会不会是哪个老大爷退休了,没事正好看看自己的直播。
    Google translate:
This tone is too serious, and every sentence will be added with a full stop, like a village cadre. Chu Qianze couldn't help but wonder if some old man had retired and just watched his live broadcast when he had nothing to do.

Mc is messaging someone who has a taciturn temperament.
像村干部一样 this part. cadre sure is there, but i don't know anything else.

Our conversation started on whether to translate terms accurately or not. It's not about dialogue at all

    愣是将所有可能的地雷区全部踩了一遍,看得楚虔泽差点笑抽在电脑前。

    Google translate
He was stunned to step on all the possible minefields, and MC almost laughed in front of the computer.

context; fans made a cake according to mc's tutorial but they all ended up weird so he's laughing at them

i think it's a slang? i tried searching it but cant find anything
