Do you agree? Are there novels or genre or tropes you think is weird to read when you're older?

    I mean,
Light novels are meant for a younger audience.

There are many webnovels meant for more mature audiences.

Plus, it's fine what you read till the time you are having fun

The childish, no braincells type of novels, yes.
But as someone who reads in a different community, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ its meant for older readers, not minors. Yet as everything were being hyped, uggh, the community lost its credibility. Like hyping abusive MLs and stockholm syndrome ◐.̃◐
Imagine reading Killing, Stalking as a 12-year old ┐(´д`)┌
Just saying though. Take this with a grain of salt. I'm too dazed and sleepy, blabbering nonsense _(з」∠)_

Your last line dictates how I feel for most things. It's fine to do what you enjoy as long as you don't drag other or cause some harm.

While books have age specific target. As an old read, I treat them as suggestions than guidelines.

There are naturally tropes/genres that are too childish/no brainer for someone that is older. The same can be said for younger audiences, where there are certain genres that they really shouldn’t be reading at that age.

But, who are we to judge? As long as your not harming anyone else or dragging them (which some people do.) then it’s not really a problem.

When I was younger, Fifty Shades of Grey trended and was like the talk of the town. I asked my sis, what is it about and she said, it's nothing. I got curious since she didn't answer me properly so i went and pirated an epub of it. Lol.

Everyone has different preferences and for me, I don't find it weird. :blobcat_hyper:
I even like reading novels or comics that are even meant for younger audiences. :p Uh...well, as long as the stories are good and not some bloody stories with low IQ characters and full of misunderstanding then I'll give it a shot. Take the Cursed Princess Club as an example, I really enjoy reading this webtoon and I always looking forward to the creator updating more chapters. Hahaha :blob_blush::blobmelt: Anyway, I find it more relaxing and makes me forget my worries whenever I read novels/comics.
PS: I still like reading or watching magic girls like sailor moon okay? wahahhahaha

Not weird at all, you can see there are a lot of tags if you want hot-blooded youth in action you read shonen, high school romantic love read shoujo, mature for men is seinen and there is also the counterpart, if you're naughty read borderline hentai, if you have strange fetish don't worry it's available. And surely there is also a forum where you the man/woman of culture can exchange civilized words of wisdom and share the forbidden link (great minds think alike)

    F*** that noise.
    1. A certain age is not an requirement or a disqualification for any reading. If my 10 year old niece wants to read War and Peace and can understand it, all the more power to her. I was reading Lord of the Rings and the f-ing Mabinogi at 10. I can damn well read Dr. Seuss at 35 if I want to. I mean, its a good idea to keep kids away from straight up porn, but if they seek it out on their own out of curiosity, can you really stop them in this day and age? Just don't hand them little yellow books.
    2. You're allowed to like childish things.
I repeat; you are allowed to like childish things. Like playing with toys, or video games or kids cartoons. If it makes you happy, why are you forbidden from enjoying it just because you're older? Are rainbows less pretty? Jokes less funny? Songs less singable? Do what makes you happy. There's so little happiness in the world.
    3. Light novels are just that. Novels. With there own genres and maturity levels. You got your kids novels, young adult novels, trashy romances, hard core sci-fi, mind distorting thrillers, cozy who done it mysteries, and a myriad of other genres. To categorize "reading" to being a childish pursuit is beyond comprehension.

Oh, come on, I love shoujo and seinen, yet my target demographic would be of josei... Guess what, I disliked all joseis I tried reading!

Demographics just mean that the majority of your target audience are within a given age/gender group. It doesn't really mean that it's a problem for someone outside that demographic to like your story, or for someone within that demographic to like it.

Webnovels are there for everyone, no need to worry about this kind of thing~

Nope, i don't think it's weird at all. i mean, I'm still watching children show like Pokemon, Digimon, Yokai Watch even now. As for webnovel, truth to be told, most children even me included aren't interested with novel that only have words but no picture, I develop my love for novel at around 16 so, I don't think novel is aimed for children in the first place. Teenager maybe, but even if teenager turned into an adult, novel would still be appealing if they love it.

Look, no matter how old you are, you will always run into arrogant young masters. In my case, I used to be a security guard and every single fucking day, I had to deal with arrogant young masters or arrogant young mistresses. At times like that, my only comfort was reading web novels about arrogant young masters and mistresses who die tragic deaths. Web novels were my whiskey, gin, vodka and Prozac.

So, in my opinion, the more adult you are, the more relevant web novels are to you. I mean, as a teenager, how often do you run into arrogant young masters? Considering that most of the arrogant young masters I ran into at work tended to be in their 20s and 30s.

:hmm: Well I'll certainly question a persons sanity if they were to say that novels with smut tags are meant for kids. Anyway isn't it just Novel? Would you call a person who watches Disney/Pixar movie weird?...... Maybe many will do. Anyway what's weird and what's not depends on ones own perception ig. Like I think reading harem..... straying a bit from the main topic... But anyway I think reading harem is weird/disgusting. But many people don't think so:blobpeek:. So does it mean I'm the weird one? I'm the one in the wrong? Or are they the wrong one? Depends on how you view it. So same goes for web novels/light novels. For one's weird might be a Norm for other:blobpeek:.
