A friend tried to convinced me to watch amazon new LOTR movie i tried to explain to them (according to my understanding) that is just fanfiction with heavy western "political correctness". We are at the age when fanfiction writer get to write script for AAA movie. or not, apparently their writer team were professional veteran that also work for 2001 lotr. so disappointing. why ? or is it just the case with the movie director being too PC ?
i think what they are trying to say it diminishes, (I would say demolishes) the worldbuild. Like this world does has racisms and other things right? And things like that would also exist in other worlds. Technically, one can say that, in LotR everyone is racist against Orcs since they are blind ragers, so by being politically correct, you loss that sense of immersion, that this is a world that merged with our world.
Theres flying dragons, dwarves and elfves but your mad that you saw black people? Stop grandstanding with this bullshit dawg. The lord of the rings series fucking sucks; always has.
A) Not fanfiction, it was signed off by the Tolkien family. Fanfiction is writing that's not approved as canon by the owners. I rarely read fanfiction but calling it fanfiction is clearly just people trying to put down this series and fanfiction in general. B) Nothing in it, that I'm aware, of is precluded by Tolkien's writing or notes. For example dwarves were crafted from stone, but no where does it say they were from white marble. All that said I doubt I'll watch the series, I have way too many books to read to watch anything.
