Any thoughts about this novel? Is this good? Can someone describe the characters and give me a little spoiler?
The most important thing about this book is that it's a fanfiction retelling of Liang Yusheng's 白髮魔女傳 first and foremost. In fact, "retelling" is an understatement because the characters are only slightly changed from the original and the events that happen in the original book almost all happen in this one as well. The first quarter of the book is original but the rest hews very closely to the original book. The main change is that it introduces the protagonist as the elder martial sister of the titular Lian Nichang and the story centers around the relationship between these two as opposed to Lian Nichang's relationship with Zhuo Yihang in the original. As to the book itself, I'd say that it's decent and one of the better written proper fanfiction novels out there. It closely copies Liang Yusheng's writing style. Whether that's positive is a matter of taste as the writing style can be a bit opaque at times. The characters and the plot are more refined and interesting that you'll find with most yuri novels but it's not quite the fluffy romance that most of those are either. One thing to note is that the female characters in the original book ended up with crappy outcomes and that's mostly averted here.
