Seeing the creepy guy purposely sabotage her and blush and seeing her being a victim 100% of the time and never doing anything to stand up for herself.....This is basically "victim abuser" p*rn and I don't mean that in the graphical p*rnographic sense but in a sense similar to "poverty p*rn".

She probably saw someone getting murder and it had something to do with him. Maybe that is partly the reason she is sorta mute. She has trauma because of that.
You are partially right. From her outfit in the first chapter, she was a noble. Judging from her reaction to Julien at that time and what she thought, she, at one time, was very aware of the type of person he was. It is my guess, the reason he made a move that night was because he realized he couldn’t fool her into believing he was a good guy. She was going to run away but Julien came and removed those in his path, her family and servants. People are made that she’s “weak” which irritates me to no end. She was under a great mental strain, I believe she might have had a pal mal seizure and it wiped her memories. I also suspect that he is the reason she can’t speak. Severe trauma such as what she probably endured, can cause one to lose their memory but it can also take away their voice. Since she has no memories and voice and was told she was a servant of the Lafeyette family, she latched onto the only person who treats her wonderfully. She has no idea it’s also the person responsible for what she’s been put through in the first place including the daily abuse she endures. Her saving grace, believe it or not, was the mother throwing her out. I can’t believe he was so stupid that he didn’t realize that the situation he put her in would result in her being thrown out or killed. I’m actually surprised she was only beaten and thrown out. In reality, it would have been much, much worse. Anyway, that’s what I believe is happening as of right now.
