https://www.novelupdates.com/series/deep-sea-embers/ Description On that day, the fog blocked everything. On that day, he became the captain of a ghost ship. On that day, he stepped through the thick fog and confronted a completely subverted and fragmented world—the old order had vanished, strange phenomonoms dominated the endless seas beyond civilized society, and isolated island city-states and fleets of ships challenged the sea that had become the last ember of lights for the civilized world. All of this while the shadows of the old days were still stirring in the deep sea, waiting to to devour this world that was about to die. But for the new captain of the ghost ship Vanished, there was only one question he had to consider first— Who knows how to drive this ship? ------------ I binged the novel recently and quiet enjoyed it. It's still early on but the world and characters have been interesting. Plus I liked the authors other novels so I have hope it'll be good
Similar... I think I know the reason why it's similar... Lord of the Mysteries - Zhou Mingrui Deep Sea Embers - Zhou Ming Even the main character name are ... Maybe he is Klein Moretti clone in the eastern side of the world?
I am not too keen on saying its very similar to LotM. they have the same world building style where the magic system is in-depth and inherent into the world okay, but many magic systems already do that. They differ with how much they focus on it, when in the story its discovered and how long to discover its impacts. Here they have much in common; its obvious, but where i think they differ is the plot and characters. Although DSE isn't finished, it already has differences already. For one DSE has raw exposition while LotM had Klien learning everything which caused different events. Duncan isn't forced into a corner with every event unlike Klein in the beginning and end of LotM. I also don't think the characters will be as developed as LotM, and the plot will be way slower. In LotM, by chapter 100, so many things happened, but here.... we know things are happening. So yes it is similar to LotM but i feel like so many other aspects are different and to say, "very similar" is unfair to DSE.
I do not mean to say that it's copied from LoM, it just gave me a lot of LoM vibes. Visions, Animalities, Cultists, Churches, Pirates... are common elements. And I have to say, if it maintains the same quality throughout, it'll be on par with LoM.
Binged read 87 chapters and each chapter was engaging with no boring chapter imo. Kinda regret doing it though, should've stacked more. And I found the raw chapters, but I must say that this novel is worth the wait, so I didn't read the raw like I usually do (it was just that good) The world setting itself is very interesting and I'm curious about how the elf or orc looks like and how their respective civilization differ from human's or the same entirely.
I have not read a thing past a little of the description, and would like to say, IS THIS CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW, THE BEST PIRATE YOU’VE EVER HEARD OF?!
I tried looking for a forum dicussing latest chaps because I needed to vent my EXCITEMENT from the finale of the latest Frost arc, and this what I found. AAAAAAHHHHHHHH THAT WAS SO FREAKING COOL! THE BUILD-UPS ARE SLOW AND SOMETIMES BORING BUT IT NEVER DISAPPOINTS! ALL HAIL CAPTAIN DUNCAN ABNOMAR!
With this, I hope the world learns more about how Captain Duncan is back and what he's been getting himself into. It would be pretty funny to see people's reactions to the "real" Captain compared to their imaginations. Fanna's reactions and realizations about how chill and laidback he is compared to the monster in the legend never fails to make me laugh.
Chapter 435 MTL I love how they were discussing the profound mysteries of the world they are in, then Nina goes on to say the most mundane humanly thing a teenager could possibly say... "the dog (deep hound) ate our homework" Duncan in his ginaourmous spirtual body overlooking an entire city state: We can just make a new one This just cracks me up
I think the greatest thing about this story is that everyone is freaking out that captain Duncan is back. But the goat is freaking out because the captain of the vanished is most certainly NOT captain Duncan. He acts so very human and then goes up to the goat and casually says he shut the door that had been cracked open…. From the subspace side.
