If it has 'wife' in the title, it has 50% chance of being straight. But, seriously, beat the odds by excluding anything BL or BL related by using filters. Edit: Linked my BL avoiding tips thread.
Avoid interesting sounding title, because, no matter how interesting the title sound, one click and you will know that it's yet another BL with interesting title once again.
1-If you get past 10 chapters and you still couldn't care less, then you aren't gonna even if the reviews say it's good. 2-Avoid the "slice of life genre" as it's usually a synonym for "boredom", and the few interesting moments that do come by will never make up for the pages you skimmed to get there.
Basically BL writers have better naming sense... Either that or they don't think we are worth making up a good name. Are we lesser than BL readers?! Really?! #StraightReadersMatter
BL maybe but masterpiece? for any WN don't expect much~ if you new to the field put it on the lowest bar you ever have compare to traditional published novel~ it tend to mostly young adult so if you can enjoy such story then go ahead~ it have quite different thing around mostly about round way explain, dragging plot, similar hmm story? pattern or such~ don't think too deeply before read quite long hmm far from available chapter~ some stories just like a bad movie, not in sense so bad it so fun more like if you throw out brain aside just for giggle~ its like snack or junk food you eat cuz it have various "tasty" stuff~ written by a cat who laughed to tear from read the Magnificent Invisible Dragon~
this is so funny, i just came back from the thread "Why do we like BL" and a lot of them are apparently straight as a pole readers who just enjoy two men together? Odd but to each their own
Remember, If you didn't like the tags then don't read it then comment shitty things about how you're not into this particular tag or genre. If you didn't read the tags then that's on you so just shut up and move on. If you like the plot but you're not into BL, then it's time to recondition your brain and come to the dark side. We have cookies~
This seems like the most awful advice I've ever seen on NUF. The ratings on NU are extremely unreliable, even by the standards of user generated ratings systems. Not only are the users overly prone to giving out only 1s or 5s, but I'm highly skeptical that we, as a collective, have any understanding of what quality is. And to top this all off, a lot of ratings are given out before the reader has finish 1/10th of the book! Why anyone would pay any heed to this is beyond me. Of all the books that have high ratings on NU, I'm not sure that any of them are particularly good. I can point to specific titles: "The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage", "Mediterranean Hegemon of Ancient Greece", and "The Grandmaster Strategist". They're mostly decent books, but they all have major failings and aren't anywhere near masterpiece level. I wouldn't be surprised to see some outright bad books get ratings like this.
Anything That Can Go Wrong, Will Go Wrong Any Modern Chinese Novel can become a Nationalist Racism novel. Any Japanese Revenge Novel can become a Harem Friendly Protagonist novel. Anytime Toika made a Novel, it would have 99% chance to end up into a Harem story. Self proclaimed low profile protagonist will become even more high profile than high profile protagonist.
