There are so many translation sites that have malware on them, and I honestly don't think its the translators fault. There are tons of ways to prevent this, but I don't know if I wanna write a whole guide (I major in cybersecurity lol). My biggest recommendation is just make sure you update your site often, and back up your site regularly. Also have a contact page that has updated info! I spent a whole day trying to contact someone whose site was infected with malware. It's best if you can be contacted ASAP! Also please download an adblocker. I know lots of translators may disagree with me on this, but an adblocker is essential for your online security! I use 3 bc I have been scarred by my studies, but that isn't needed. I would recommend uBlock Origin for sure, or MalwareBytes Browser Guard if you want to go the extra mile. Happy surfing! Edit: tell me if this is the wrong thread: if anyone sees this. The malware in particular I've found is "safestgatetocontent" which redirects anyone trying to access a site to another site filled with adware. Stay safe.
I've actually always wondered how perfectly good sites can suddenly get malware on them. I mean only the owner can make changes to the webpage so you'd need to hack in somehow, then I guess you just insert a virus into the code somewhere. Does that mean all hacked websites have had their admin username and password stolen, wouldn't multistage authentication stop most website hacks?
Actually it's usually though insecure plugins, which lead to a gateway for them to mess with your site. It can also be themes or templates as well! They don't necessarily just stem from access to logins. Always ensure anything that has permissions to reformat your site is secure and updated! Well it's all up to personal preference! Yes my javascript is off! I only discovered the malware bc I had tried to access through the site through my phone instead of my computer like usual. Also there should be a way to flag links that lead to malware-ridden sites from novelupdates.......... I've been hit a couple times due to carelessness.
