This is such a mess and reminds me of wattpad mafia stories that 14yr olds write. This manhwa Is a reminder that as long as the characters are hot, stupid ass readers will devour this type of manhwas just like what happened to abandoned empress and that stupid ass Claude. I mean, at least abandoned empress's author got shitted on twitter(I'm not including the death threats, that's not cool.) Hopefully the same fate follows to the author of this manhwa(again, not the death threats but the criticism from readers so that the author realizes how fucking dumb of an idea this manhwa is.)
Always a sucker for this kind of cliche storyline but sometimes I wish the redemption for the ML is more than that. Tho at least from the spoilers the FL didn’t just fully accept him and tried to be independent in her own way. I feel like maybe even after they are together, the FL should have at least bit trauma of what could happen and I wish the author would portray that a bit. anyway, ml sucks
I think it just needs to be accepted that if the characters acted like actual people this plot wouldn't exist. On the ML end, he hears a vague report that she's a hooker and just cements this as an inviolable fact in his head, no more questions asked? Nothing about her behavior or anything tips him off that maybe there's been some mistake? Like, virgin vs nonvirgin isn't obvious during sex, but surely he'd clock that she doesn't seem to have the experience she should have if she'd been running through men like tissues. In three years he didn't get any kind of grasp of her personality? And the guy's had a long history of servants being duplicitous and working for someone else in secret or just having their own goals. He's suspicious in other circumstances, but whenever the plot wants him to think the worst of the FL he just 100% buys what he's told, no need to verify. He keeps making assumption after assumption regardless of how poorly it gels with his personal observations. the Fl's actions don't make much better sense. Forget once their relationship is established, at the very beginning when he propositions her she's just like 'lol, okay'. No, 'wait, why do you want me to be a mistress, what prompted this offer'. You know, like a normal person would. She can't be that thirsty. Has she absolutely never spoken about her life and past with him? Like, not even casually mentioned her only recently coming to the capitol, or her friend, or anything? Almost any personal information would show a discrepancy with that initial report. And why does she think he'll someday propose? What about his behavior screamed 'we're totally in love and its just a matter of time before he makes me an honest woman'? Who believes someone who goes "oh yeah, he likes experienced women so you need to tart it up'? With how much people betray her, you'd think she'd develop a tiny smidgeon of reasonable caution. Literally any agency or rational thought during the 1st 3 years of their relationship would have derailed this whole misunderstanding. There's no point in hating on the ML or FL, because they don't start acting like real people until after the 1st time skip. Everything before that point was just a contrivance to get them into that state of misunderstandings and angst.
Finished reading the epilogue's MTL: Spoiler: Epilogue MC and ML returned to the duchy but has to live their live very carefully and secretive. They registered their marriage without ceremony so no one knows MC is not dead and is the new duchess until MC is ready to take on the role. ML's eye sight was still bad and his condition has to be kept secret from enemies. In the final epilogue, ML and MC has a small ceremony, inviting only those who were close to them. Somewhere along the line, MC told ML to find time to have his eye surgery done. I don't think this is a stable 'happy-ending' anyway. MC probably won't have problem with the role of Duchess. But her being the woman of ML, means her life will be threatened forever by his enemy and even the queen. The prognosis for ML's eye condition is so-so, so he might continue to be half blind or even deteriorate if the surgery is not successful. By this time, ML is already in his late 30s and health was scarred by the bombing. I wouldn't be surprise if there will be a lot of health problem arising. If ML passed away before Damian turned adult, MC and Damian will be targeted by other nobles/enemies. P/s: Not sure if I missed it or what. Did they ever resolve the misunderstanding that ML is still in love with his previous fiancee and MC is just a substitute because of her blonde hair?
I don't like ML but I like how the green tea girl was put in her place. Spoiler: Hunting season ball Rumor had spread around that the Queen decided to make Lady Talon (daughter of a marquis) as ML's new wife. Hence Lady Talon kept hanging out around MC and passive-aggressively trying to make her uncomfortable. Soon, the hunting season began. At the end of the hunting season, there was a grand ball in which a queen-of-the-night will be chosen through voting and the amount of hunts by their partner. The queen can point to any single man (unmarried and not engaged) in the ball to dance and escort her. MC almost won, until the Queen (the real queen) sent her representative to give extra vote to Lady Talon. Hence Lady Talon became the queen-of-the-night and she chose ML to be her dance partner until he goes to bed (urgh!). She thought she had won, but ML was one step ahead of her. He publicly rejected and announced MC as his fiancee. [ there's an old engagement tradition; if a lady accepted and wore the man's mother's engagement heirloom, they are considered engaged. MC didn't know this and had unknowingly wore the necklace given by ML]. Nothing makes my mood better than when a man-stealing woman gets spit in her face.
I get annoyed with stories where its onlyprogressing because people act unnaturally and the villains have perfect timing. She won't speak up and like you said he never listens to servants but all if a sudden when its her he does. Common sense has to leave for the plot and it gets old very fast
I get the feeling that the author wanted to write from that 1st time skip forward. That moment where they meet again, there’s a secret love child and the FL’s been betrayed and wronged while the ML is at fault but also mistaken and misunderstandings abound. I don’t want to hate too much on the author because they’re trying to make a living and that sort high melodrama plot is the sort of thing that you can’t look away from. But also they dropped the ball on getting the characters to that point in a believable way. In order to reach that scene the two act out of character as compared to how they act after they reunite. The FL finally starts acting with the caution and agency she should have long before that point, and the ML learns to use his observation skills and basic logic. But because we know the basis of this drama is kinda sloppy and weak they still seem kinda stupid for having these misunderstandings in the 1st place.
Spoiler: About Killian and Cedric Literally, these two men are the alive example of how most women automatically regard red flagged men as a potential 'Romance'. Not saying all though, but most are like that. But then they complain WHY they always get the abusive men. Literally, whenever a 'nice guy' (who's literally nice lol) gets near them, they go "I don't feel anything romantic for him yknow, there's just no drama there's like no spark, no dopamine yada yada, they just feel like bestie or little brother". I am talking about girls who CAN get themselves out of that toxic relationship but opted not to cuz...they still love the devil (men). Like??? My friend is a prime example istg, she can leave her bf's ass but she doesn't wanna cuz the 'nice guy' she met before meeting her bf felt like a friend rather than a Man. Like??? She can literally leave the privk but she just...loves the drama idk. And this almost always happens though ngl. The FL chose a literal r4pist. I read the manhwa and the r4pe scenes actually made me cry. It triggered me. In reality, the FL should've been traumatized for LIFE. and would've taken atleast like 10 years for recovery. But NOPE. infront of MY STABLE HEALTHY BRAIN, she chooses to be with... the r4pist rather than with cedric who's actually nice and ACCEPTS HER EVEN WHEN SHE HAS A KID FROM OTHER MAN. Can anyone here explain this psychological behaviour of most women choosing a toxic guy? Thanks cuz I'm going crazy with this fact.
Haha, MC is obviously wrong in the head. She went back a man who treated her like a dog for 10 years, rather than a man who loves, respects and cares for her opinion. Why choose Killian, in what way is he better than Cedric?? BTW, what happened with her dream of being a novelist by the end? I guess it's the typical case of "Love is blind". There is another one like TMRU but I can't remember the title. ML treats FL like garbage. She runs away while pretty. He regrets. She came back. He clings to her like a leech. They are together. The only difference is that 2ML is not a good man.
I only read the Apollo's Heart manhwa up to certain episodes but I don't think the ML treated her badly? He just felt betrayed when FL suddenly vanished and he thought she had died. After she ran away and pretended as couple with Cedric, she did published her novel and earned quite enough to live comfortably with her son. Yeah, my vote was on Cedric too. Chapter 49 If I was treated like a dog for years and suddenly have the chance to treat him like a dog, I might be tempted to return to him. This is an unhealthy mentality. But unlike FL, I will probably steal all his money.
He imprisons her and rapes her, from the spoilers. And I think before her amnesia, he treated her like a side b***h. But it's all toned down in the manhwa, he's much worse in the novel
