Iirc it was just mentioned briefly that her mom has an ambiguous origin. As far as the main story goes, the novel did not elaborate more about her biological mom. Spoiler He did love her in the previous timeline. They met when they were young, I think FL was around 8-10 years old iirc. ML gave her a flower. She was a neglected princess then and ML's small gesture of kindness made her fall in love with him. If my memory serves me right, they were married quite young and that's because FL made the mistake of telling Ianfried that she likes ML when he asked her one time. They forced ML to marry FL so she can be a shackle that connects his family to the imperial family. His parents and sister died because of the emperor and Ianfried's schemes. I forgot if it's his sister or his parents who died shortly after ML and FL married, but when the body was returned to ML's duchy, ML who was filled with grief and anger, lashed out his anger on FL and told her hurtful things. They were still both so young then and that moment cemented FL's belief that it was all her fault, that if she kept her greed (her love for ml) to herself, he wouldn't be suffering. FL was forced to be a spy iirc Ianfried was already the emperor then and he would use the people important to ML to threaten FL. I don't remember much details, but ML will be sent as a representative (like a diplomat) to another kingdom. He stayed there for like years (iirc 3 years). He wanted to gain power and was able to get that kingdom's support to overthrow Ianfried (iirc it would be beneficial for them as well since Ianfried is a tyrant and could possibly threaten their kingdom as well). Part of the people rebelling in the prologue of the novel are reinforcements from that said kingdom. On the other hand, FL thought ML had abandoned her since she thought ML hated her so much. Since everyone was afraid to kill Ianfried because of his blessing, she decided to be the one to kill him as atonement for her sins against ML and his family. Iirc, Ianfried had constantly poisoned FL through some type of tea. FL was also constantly poisoned by her nanny as per the second empress' order. That's why she was dying at the prologue, her body has already reached its limits. When she died, ML held her and cried. He grieved for her and he had always regretted that night he vented his anger out on her, that he was too young to realize that she too was a victim. He loved her even in the first time line. If my memory serves me right, people forgot FL's existence, but iirc ML didn't. It was him who turned back the time (I'm sorry I forgot how, it's been so long since I read this), in exchange he had lost all of his divine power in the current timeline. Everyone from the duchy, well at least his family and even the knights serving them, has divine power. It was unprecedented for the child of the head of the family to have no divinity. In the current timeline, ML and his mom weren't able to attend FL's half-sister's tea party or something because ML was really sick. In the past, that's the time when ML and FL first met. In the current timeline, it was ML's sister who went to the palace secretly. Through FL's schemes and the help of the first empress, she's able to have a birthday party. ML's sis was there in hopes of finding a cure for ML in the imperial library and to check what kind of kid FL was. She's also the one who will cure FL from the poison incident on her birthday, although she will not be able to fully purify her.
how was 2nd prince and 3 princess ending? what happened to the 1st empress after taking her revenge from the emperor?
Spoiler: time skip I was skimming the novel on booktoki and it looks like a time skip of seven years happens in chapter 75. FL is 15 years old and it seems like she is having her debutante soon. FL finally meets ML for the first time again (after the whole time reversal thing) in chapter 80. The empress asks ML to share a dance with the princess and he asks FL for the dance instead of the empress' daughter. FL is surprised because this is something that she's always dreamt of, but tells herself to wake up since she promised to not be the root of his unhappiness again. During their dance, ML asks FL about the fight for the throne and she tells him that she has no intentions of getting him involved whether it be as her ally or enemy.
Spoiler Iirc it only mentioned they refused to take the throne. The youngest prince was pretty much considered as ML's family since he grew up with them. Maybe their endings will be explored more on the side stories. I really don't have the motivation nor the time to delve into the side stories since it's been so long since I read the main story and even if I had the urge, I would most probably want to read from the start lol. As for the second princess (she's one year younger than FL), she became so withdrawn when the second empress was executed, iirc she was hoping that her brother will save their mom, but in the end, she was just a tool he used to escape from being caught. Iirc, the atrocities of the imperial family were exposed to the public, including the second princess' habit of collecting "dolls" and the cruelties she had committed, which ruined her reputation as she was seen as an angel (cos of her beauty) by the general public. The ending of the novel is pretty much just FL recovering from her injuries in ML's duchy while things were happening in the background (which were not elaborated on since ML just gave FL a quick rundown of what happened iirc and just told her to focus on recovering). Instead, I'll just say what I remember about the second princess. She's been spoiled by her mom and the emperor was sort of "affectionate" to her if we go by his standards since this man is trash lol, and he only paid her attention (like having regular tea time with her) because he was wary of her blessing. She loves FL in her own twisted way. She has this thought of wanting to turn FL into a doll cos she's so pretty in her eyes, but not wanting to do so at the same time cos she also likes it whenever they spend time together. It's just that the environment she grew up in fcked her up so badly. Unlike her brother, she wasn't purely evil. She just doesn't realize that the atrocities she had committed were wrong. This was something the duchess (ML's mom) had realized when the second princess basically gate-crashed into FL's coming-of-age ceremony at ML's duchy. She couldn't stand the fact that she can't celebrate with FL on her important day and went as far as going against her mother, the second empress when she was sent elsewhere (like your usual royal duties to people for good pr). She just doesn't know that her idea of loving FL was wrong and how she treated other people around her. She was like that because that's what she saw the second empress doing while she was growing up, and I think she got the idea of her "doll land" from Ianfried who has this sort of secret assassin group that is basically kinda like an undead or something (sorry I didn't understand the mtl), but basically, they only follow what Ianfried told them to do and they will not deviate from the mission he had given them. Iirc, she wanted something like that of her own, that's why she was given the "dolls", and not to mention that whenever she's crossed the line Ianfried has set, it was said Ianfried himself "educated" her and FL noted how meek she always was after being educated by him, so God knows what he did to his sister. There will come a point when the second princess and the duchess will have the chance to talk over a picnic. The Duchess was trying to keep her away from FL (lol she's very clingy to her, if she weren't as fcked up as she was, FL would have considered actually loving her as her own sister, but she can't unsee nor forget the atrocities she committed). The duchess wanted to give FL and ML alone time together (the family shipped the two they like FL cos she helped save ML's life and she saved/helped them a couple more times after that) and the second princess wouldn't leave FL's side. Anyway, the duchess tried to open her eyes to her idea of love for FL and how she treated the people around her. Initially, she was in denial and got upset with the duchess, but eventually, she realized the truth in her words and how FL wouldn't want to be with someone like her. This prompted her to burn her "doll land", something she had cherished and prized the majority of her life, and iirc she was still hopeful that Ianfried will not abandon her and their mom cos they were family. She thought that even if their mom was imprisoned, he would find a way to save her. But he didn't. And he was the one who pinned their mom as the culprit. Before, she was conflicted about choosing between her brother and FL. Her brother, out of fear, and FL out of affection. Her brother's betrayal, hardened her resolve to side with FL, eventually saving FL from Ianfried and sucking his blessing out. As for the first empress, I think she stayed in the palace. But I'm not pretty sure about that. But what I'm certain of is she really considered FL as her own child, and FL also considered her as her mother. She had been a great help to FL in a lot of ways. Especially whenever the emperor is pissed off with FL. The first empress would sort of sweet talk her way with the emperor, like which palace FL should move etc. Later on, when FL had accumulated a lot of achievements, she would suggest to the emperor to move FL's residence to a certain palace (iirc this was the first crown prince's former palace, and it was always assigned to who will most likely inherit the throne). She's really good at appeasing the emperor. Spoiler FL was firmly avoiding any form of contact with ML and his family. She (around 8 years old iirc) helped when she learned that ML was sick and when she got permission to access the imperial library, she acted as if she was trying to learn about how to cure her poisoned body because she was poisoned constantly by her nanny, but in reality, she was searching for a clue how to cure ML's disease (this was the consequence of the time being turned back, the divine power in ML's body was like running rampant or something or kinda like leaking, something like that. She would get help from the imperial doctor iirc who illegally copied the medical books in the library lol. Iirc, the solution was to give ML a constant supply of divine power since his body was basically running out of it. ML will always wear a necklace that has a certain amount of divine power for the rest of the story). I digress lol, anyway, please note that FL was hell-bent on keeping her distance from ML and his family that's why it took them so long to get back together. And in this debut party, FL's engagement with the son of a marquis [iirc he was a loyal ally of the emperor, especially during times of war, but their relationship soured because Ianfried killed the marquis' eldest son (by drowning iirc while Ianfried and his lackeys were laughing watching) and when the marquis demanded justice for his son, the emperor turned a blind eye and was like he's just your son, I'm like your best buddy, you still have other children to succeed you.] Yeah, piece of sht. Anyway, the emperor agreed to it to keep Ianfried in check. By that time, he's always displeased with Ianfried cos FL was manipulating things in the background, and he would lash out at Ianfried that he should've kept the first prince alive instead if he only knew he was gonna be a disappointment. You might think that the emperor was siding with FL, but no. He was only looking out for himself. Favoring FL at that time was what was beneficial to him. Later on in the story, he would betray FL as well and be on friendly terms with Ianfried again after FL was sort of struggling. If there's one thing he's good at, it's playing the cards in his hands right. FL made a deal with the Marquis. He sort of fell into depression and neglected his work and did not participate in noble meetings for so long, thus, his influence diminished since Ianfried's lackeys were expanding their influence and authority. Anyway, it was announced there that FL was engaged with the marquis' son and (it hurts a bit) ML was surprised she was already engaged to someone else, but backed down when she told him to keep their promise (not to get involved with her). He kept his distance, silently waiting for her.
Spoiler: Marquis' son The Marquis' son was a few years older than FL iirc. Sorry, but I can't remember his name. In a way, you could say he is the second male lead. His engagement with FL would last until after her coming-of-age ceremony (about 3 years or so iirc). The purpose of their engagement was to boost FL's influence and position since the Marquis had considerable authority over the military. This would also provide FL protection since if something happened to her, the Marquis and his son could take action since the second son was engaged to FL. When they first met, FL was around 15 years old iirc, and he sort of fell in love with her because of her beauty, as well as her wit and prowess when it came to scheming. He was still at the academy at that time iirc. He's good friends with FL, and he understood that while he admires FL a lot, she didn't reciprocate his feelings. They would break their engagement at a noble meeting iirc after FL had her coming-of-age ceremony at the duchy. The Marquis and his son would continue to help FL even after the engagement was broken. After their engagement was announced at FL's debut to society, FL and the Marquis' son were ambushed. This was done by the people in Ianfried's faction. FL was able to have a successful and safe debut party and engagement announcement because FL created a distraction. FL created this persona (forgot the name, but it starts with M, and for convenience's sake, let's call her Marie lol). Marie writes articles about the corruption of the nobles (from Ianfried's faction) like embezzlement, drug distribution, etc. The writer was an upright commoner (iirc) female journalist who died in the first life because she was trying to expose some nobles, so FL decided to take her under her wing. Anyway, Ianfried was so obsessed with trying to catch Marie because he had been under hot waters for the corruption of his faction and he got a tip that Marie would appear in a slave auction. He decided to go catch her himself, missing FL's debut and engagement announcement. Spoiler ML and FL will first meet in the current timeline during FL's debut to society. This was unexpected because the duchy has remained closed for so long and ML didn't venture out of the duchy until that moment. It was also his first debut to society. As one of the previous spoilers mentioned, the second empress would try to make ML dance with the second princess even though the second princess wasn't supposed to be there since she was supposed to debut the next year. It was actually a funny interaction cos the second empress thought she had trapped ML into dancing/escorting her daughter, only for it to backfire since ML asked for FL's hand (for the dance) since the second empress was being lowkey that he should dance with the princess, forgetting that FL was also one. Saying that she didn't specify which princess, ML asked FL which made the emperor laugh iirc cos the second empress thought she was being smart lol. The second empress was humiliated before that cos she made the party as extravagant as possible cos her daughter was attending. She, her daughter, and the third empress dressed up so extravagantly despite part of the empire experiencing flood iirc. (If iirc the project to prevent the flooding was under Ianfried, but the officials assigned to it just embezzled the funds and the project was poorly done iirc). FL made her entranced with the emperor as her escort, both wearing simple clothes to sympathize with the people. The emperor heavily reprimanded the empress for how insensitive and uncaring she was towards the people of their empire, as well as the debutantes for being so selfish lol. The emperor made them pledge donations for the people. FL schemed the whole thing and the emperor benefitted since he looked like a caring ruler to his people, plus the emperor didn't have to spend a single coin for the people since he made the family of debutantes donate considerable amounts of money. Anyway, iirc ML and FL danced. After that was the announcement of FL's engagement. ML was surprised she was engaged to someone else. Here we would get a clue that he remembers their past life. His sister liked FL a lot by that point since FL helped her and her teacher to hide away from the emperor's eyes and she was rewarded for saving the youngest prince (which was done by FL). During that time when FL planned with them to save the youngest prince, FL asked that in return for her help, she wanted nothing to do with ML and his family. Deep inside, FL was having some kind of panic attack when she saw ML for the first time in their second life. ML's sister created an opportunity so the two could talk cos she thought ML had fallen in love at first sight with FL and so that ML could properly thank FL for finding the cure to his illness. During their talk, FL was so adamant that they should never be involved with each other in the future. She blocked any of his attempts to get closer to her. That's why it took them so long to be together. Before FL's coming-of-age ceremony iirc, she made her first official duty outside the palace. She chose a slum area to perform her royal duties. One or two of Ianfried's lackeys were heavily involved in drugs in that area iirc. And it so happened that ML and his knights were pursuing the drug dealers and the clues led them there. Long story short, the two nobles (or I think it's just one of them) planned to get rid of FL and ML in that area and make it look like they were ambushed by the criminals hiding in the slums. While out on inspection, ML and FL were ambushed. FL's escort knights didn't really care about her cos they think she was a cursed being. They let FL stay in a rundown inn while her escort knights were given VIP treatment in one of the nobles' (involved in drugs) manor. ML saved FL cos the ground they were standing on collapsed and she got thrown down. The two spent some time together as they try to find a way out. Meanwhile, the second princess who tagged along FL and was doing her duties at the town/area before you reach the slums, heard what happened and went kinda like berserk mode. At that time, FL had gained huge popularity for caring for the people that the empire had forsaken for so long. The noble (iirc he's a viscount, but I'm not sure) wanted to use that opportunity while FL and ML were gone, to sort of subjugate FL's followers and ML's knights. They didn't immediately send help to find FL, only when the second princess' blessing was activated (she almost killed the noble who said that FL was already dead iirc) did the knights move to search for ML and FL. There was very little progress between ML and FL this time too, although that's the longest time they were together at that point. I guess, the turning point of their relationship was when FL had her coming-of-age ceremony at the duchy. The Duke (ML's dad) volunteered to open the duchy and hold the coming-of-age party at the duchy. The emperor agreed seeing as he wouldn't spend a coin on holding a party. FL dreaded going back to the party and had to mentally prepare herself. Iirc it was the Duchess who welcomed FL cos ML was away for some work at that time. They prepared her room in the main mansion lol if I'm not mistaken, her room was within the family wing. The rest of the other nobles were in an annex lol. She wanted to be in the annex as well cos that way there was a low probability of meeting ML, but the Duchess went into acting mode and tried to guilt-tripped FL into staying there lol. She was like, "But we and the servants really worked hard to prepare this room, but it's okay if Your Highness didn't like it. But it would also stress the servants out having to prepare a new room for the princess on such short notice". FL felt guilty for being an inconvenience to them, so she relented lol. She would try to avoid ML, but ML's family will try at every opportunity for the two to be together. During the coming-of-age ceremony, the marquis' son was supposed to be FL's dance partner and escort. But, FL's youngest brother always tried to get in the way of the two lol. He was trying to act cute and childish around FL saying that he wanted to dance with his sister whom he considers his savior. FL's fiance can't win against her brother cos if he insisted on being FL's partner, he would be the bad guy lol. That's when the second princess came, gate-crashing the party. The youngest prince and the second princess were having a war of nerves cos they both wanted to monopolize FL. Since Ianfried loves FL so much (this is pure sarcasm), he sent a "gift" to FL. Intruders came to the duchy. The people at the party were unaware that the duchy was under attack lol ML and his family handled it well. Anyway, when FL went out of the party, she knew the intruders were meant for her. She fought Ianfried's "puppets" and when the second princess came, FL asked her to get rid of the puppets so she used her blessing iirc. FL went to the main residence iirc and it was empty and filled with smoke. It was laced with drugs iirc it would make you hallucinate. I don't remember why she was there, I think that's where she asked to meet up. When she found the room where her loyal maid, the youngest prince, and ML were, they were all lying on the ground. The youngest prince had his shield activated iirc he was hallucinating about that time when he and his mom were being pursued by the empress' men and his mom was eventually killed. As for her maid, I think she was hallucinating that FL died and she wasn't able to help or something. As for ML, oh, he was breaking down cos he saw FL dying all over again. That's when FL realized that ML remembers everything as well. After the drug was out of their system, iirc FL met ML in the garden and confronted him. She broke down and had PTSD. She was so eaten by guilt she sort of lost it and ML was like this is why I didn't want you to know. And to calm her down, ML used his divine power. Iirc he could only use his divine power on FL (but I'm not so sure). FL fell asleep and was brought to her room. Iirc after that, their already awkward relationship became even more strained. Iirc the Duchess tried to talk to FL and FL, filled with grief and confessed to her about what happened in their first life, how it was all her fault, and how she didn't deserve ML. Iirc the rest of the family knew, but they didn't hate FL, and as the Duchess had said, the things that happened then, didn't happen now, so how could they hate FL? There was a festival at the end of their stay at the duchy. People wear masks and can change their hair and eye colors to whatever they wanted. The Duchess encouraged FL to go to the festival and see the duchy and its people and how much she had protected them, and what was now was the reality (like she didn't need to be stuck in the past). She went to the festival and she met ML at the fountain by the market or something. In the past, it was turned into a cemetery after the mass massacre of the imperial family. And FL saw how everyone was full of life. ML asked her to forget even just that night about what happened in the past and to be honest with herself. That night the two danced and eventually kissed. That's when they got "together", like nothing's official yet, like their relationship doesn't have a label yet, that sort of thing. Fast forward to the time when ML was to escort the crown prince of the neighboring country, Ianfried set up a trap, and the area where ML and the crown prince were to parade, the whole area blew up. The crown prince was safe, and because he needed to go back to his country, he couldn't stay and help FL. FL thought ML died in the explosion, she stayed in the area to investigate and try to find ML's body. FL was so distraught over what happened because she failed to protect him again. Until ML showed up lol, he was just hiding somewhere and trying to fool Ianfried into thinking he got killed in the explosion. ML brought FL to his room in a different inn where he was hiding, and if I understood the mtl correctly, they snu snu in there Personally, that's the point where I considered them as official lovers because FL was no longer resisting her feelings for ML.
I think I worded it poorly lol I didn't proofread the whole thing cos I got tired typing iirc after FL confessed to the Duchess, the Duchess was the one who told the rest of the family. They finally understood why FL always kept them at arms length, when in reality it would be really advantageous for her if she has ML family's backing.
You mean when she was 15 or 18? If when she was 15 y.o., it is chapter 79, if when she was 18 y.o., it is chapter 148. It is chapter 157 when she realised that Hellis had the memory of past life. In chapter 160 she was in despair that he remembered everything.
I managed to get the side stories of this novel. Spoiler: The latest chapter of SS In the latest chapter Hellis made the proposal to Carnephelia. He put the silver ring with purple gem on her ring finger. It meant that she would became Carnephelia Spenbach. So last descendant of imperial family Helsdante disappeared. It was the moment when the curse of Helsdante was no longer exist. In total there are 12 side stories. 8 side stories are about Helis, among them 6 stories are about Helis after everyone forgot about Carnephelia including him, but he still felt that in his life was someone whom he forgot, in the end he managed to remembered her and turned back time, 2 stories dedicated to Helis after turning back the time, when he was 10, how he tried to train himself and prepared to meet Carnephelia, and it also told about him and Carnephelia in present time, to be exact after destroying Helsdante family. 1 side story is about 1st empress, she became Duchess of the territory which was gifted to her by Carnephelia. And the last 3 side stories are about Carnephelia and Helis't trip around empire to help Pretta (Helis's sister), the new ruler of the Empire.

I am starting to think, the curse or the blessing of FL was actually being immune to the curses of the imperial family.
