Yeah, it definitely was a sudden change, so I can understand. As for MKNR, the anime doesn't do the novel enough justice. Anyway, enjoy!

I don't recommend Mushoku Tensei as later on you might be disappointed and drop it as I did because of a VERY stupid misunderstanding and then, harem problem. But that's me.

Anyways, I recommend:

If you are OK with female main characters:
My deciple died yet again
Dominions End
Chu Wang Fei - this is more Chinese royalty power battle and stuff.

His luck isn't really detrimental to the story, though. One of the reasons why I like Er Gen's novels is how he ties everything together and the exploration/world building that takes place. The luck ties into is previous understanding and it is "heaven-defying" luck--He has to earn it too.

But I digress; I'd like to recommend World of Cultivation and Transcending the Nine Heavens. Both are on my masterpiece list.
Side Note: TDG was my first novel too (I read the manga first), but I stopped reading it since the MC was too lucky and OP.

I need to suggest World of Cultivation. MC is lucky, but takes the good with the bad. Love of currency is his current romance.

Legendary Moonlight Sculptor is good, but is a game world novel. Being a game, enemies aren't killed just once and gone...it's like Dynasty Warriors with some named strongbads and lots of "red dots". Romance is set in an odd but pleasant fashion. Lucky encounters supported by character investment.

...Then, I hope they meet or exceed your goals. Take care.

See I just cannot take hot-headed protagonists, who always overestimate their own abilities, or who thinks that absolutely ANYONE who gets in their way must die.

Arrogant MCs are just not my thing either. People seem to love seeing the guy in the novel go like "You're nothing but trash." to their enemies, but everyone has their own problems, geez it's not their fault you're so strong. I prefer more humble main characters, who very well know the saying "There are people beyond people, heavens beyond heaven" (Or something like that.)

I also get really pissed at any BS luck, because okay, you work hard and you get what you deserve I get it alright? But still, luck is too irrational for me, so is love at first sight. Long story short, I can't accept anything if they are not explained. I am fine with love and instant romance as long as there is a decent explication for it.

There's also harem. It's not that I cannot take it at all, but I still don't understand how guys and girls in books fall in love so easily!!! I understand if you have a crush and then fall in love gradually over time being together, but no. Guy meets girl and girl instantly is so smitten by his oh so formidable strength and intelligence.

But also, I really can't endure watching a weak protagonist who will always only rely on his or her friends to save their sorry ass.

In conclusion, I would be thankful to anyone who would be kind enough to read my entire post and give me suggestions, because I just read a few books and I am out. And I know there aren't many decent books that match my requirements because there is also the fact that I can't read anything without a decent writing/translating style or that is narrated pathetically (Ex. Reincarnator for writing style, um sorry I've been reincarnated for the narration)

Although, it's nearly impossible to find any novel with all these requirements, worry not, there are exceptions.

1. Tales of Demons and Gods: This is actually my first ever novel on Novel Updates, and naturally everything new is gold. I gradually came to the realisation of the MC's arrogance and harem, but the plot and the protagonist's calm attitude.

2. Douluo Dalu: This is my personal favourite of NU. Although the MC has bullshit luck, the writing style (btw I love long descriptions or slow paced stories), the team spirit and friendship (This is a seven MCs story, and also one of the rare ones that have character development), as well as the protagonist's calm, smart and caring attitude just make up for it. The romance is also excellent because it is slow and EXPLAINABLE!

3. Whisper of the Nightingale: This one is on RoyalRoad, I stumbled on it, but I must say I love it so much, because although the MC has really BS luck and love at first sight, it is explained by her previous life. Also, she is caring towards her family, something a lot of novels completely sweep away.

4. Log Horizon: It contains none of the above, and holy sh** the MC is smart. Okay, there might be some harem-ish romance, but the plot and main character's speciality (Instead of power, he has the brain) completely make up for it.

And that's about it, those four up above are my four all-time novels, and I thank you again for reading my post, and possibly apologise for the waste of time. And request any novel suggestions that match my oh so weird and demanding requirements.

I doubt you'll read it, but for reals, Feng Tang from True Star is the calmest and rational dude I've ever read (from translated novels). He's too calm!
