The problem with xianxia is that the MC actions go against logic. Why do they want to cultivate to immortality? Because the author said they do. Most humans in their situation would get extremely powerful then rule whatever lower realm they were born in instead of ascending to become a little bitch in higher realms. Read TMW if you want an example. Yi Yun originally wanted to cultivate to give him and his sister a better life. Now he's basically the strongest in their world but he's going to leave for no reason.

I know them. I have pretty much read everything. I just want specific things. No need to rant in my thread.

 

The first two don't really affect me much (if they have purpose) in a regular xianxia. What irritates me the most is the excess of "face", and when the MC accidentally steps next to an ant, and the friend of the ant is offended, and then the friend of the friend of the ant, the father of the friend of the friend, the clan of the father of the friend of the friend, the wife of the father of the friend of the friend that belongs to a even bigger clan, then the senior brother of this wife, that in truth is her lover and she cheats her husband with him... And all of then are offended.

I don't actually get this one??????

 

The only thing i don't like is that, when people find out MC has monstrous talent they want to kill him. After that i always wonder how the fuck can there still be thousands of young, talented cultivators if everyone wants to kill them. Same thing is when MC hadn't done anything but some young master just wants to kill him. How the fuck has humanity not perished when everyone wants to kill without reason?
Can't say anything about plot armor, because without it MC would die or wouldn't achieve great strength. Which means there wouldn't be story to write or it would be very boring.

 

Picking up random items on the roadside that turns out to be heaven-defying treasures

 

Goals change overtime, they will never stay the same. If his goal was pursing the peak, no shit he would want to ascend to higher realms like other novels. Plus life expectancy will go up, why wouldn't he want to live longer? A lot of people have the same goal and unless his talent is limited, he would stay in the Tian Yuan world and u never know if some expert from the twelve empyrean heavens come down and destroy the Tian Yuan world. He would be beaten down. Also, people change.

 

Chinese novel will mostly about immortality no immortality no Chinese novel

 

Hypocrisy. Villian runs around bullying, raping, murdering, and crippling whoever they want, but as soon as the MC hurts them, the villain's father or family instantly feels wronged.

 

Every artifact/treasure belong to MC, even someone else found it, MC always get it

 

What about those moments when the MC just somehow manages to find some miraculous treasure/medicine?

 

For the prodigal son part, the Silly Alchemist can be a good example. As for the period, I've been curious about that too. I mean, scientifically wise(you know, if biologically is was still the same), a woman only has a certain amount of egg cells so won't a female cultivator stop have her period and become unable to have children after a certain amount of time. Same goes for men, the older you get, the less sex drive you have, even if your body is eternally 20.
